And the reason they’re able to do that is because they can manipulate laws to do that. Because they keep winning elections.

A GOP governor with a Dem legislature ain't doing shit. Which makes your whole comment rather moot for the context.

There is an unpleasant amount that a GOP governor could still do even with a Dem super-majority in the legislature.

Nothing to likes of changing voting laws that we see in all these fully red states.

I’m so ready to see Elder stans cry tonight…

Depending on the number of early ballots and the amount of in-person voting on Tuesday, the math could be clear within a few hours of when the polls close at 8 p.m. Pacific time, election experts say. But if the race is tighter than expected, weeks could pass while the counting drags on.
Vote counts are notoriously slow in California because the state is so massive. But the law for this election allows county officials to open and process early ballots as they come in, those results cannot be shared with the public until polls close.

So what are the chances of this guy getting elected?

As of latest polling, "low", but given that there's not a ton of polling data available (compared to most races) and that gubernatorial recalls are fairly uncommon, it's hard to say anything with too much certainty.

The fact that Rose McGowan and others are already calling fucking fraud, including Elder, means that they aren't going to give up without lawsuits that are going to go the same fucking way that the Trump lawsuits went.

I still wonder when McGowan became a political pundit who anybody pays attention to, but oh well.

It's the current Republicant schtick. Spend time talking about threats of fraud knowing you'll lose, pre-emptively claim fraud right before you lose, spend months complaining about fraud after you lose.

The Trump playbook is remarkably thin, it's just a single page. Yet apparently it's good enough to be the blueprint for national Republicans everywhere.

You know, despite the fact that after decades of whinging and moaning about "widespread voter fraud" that Republicans have yet to show any actual evidence of it, and the few instances of meaningful voter fraud uncovered have been from...Republican candidates.

    Id think they'd go worse

between everyone seeing that show before and any judge they show up in front of not wanting their court used for that same circus. It will likely open with a demand that they put up or shut up, and anything else will see them risking their license.

So good luck finding any lawyer that will drag it out like Lin Wood or Sidney Powell

especially over a governorship that would barely last a year.

I'll wait and see, as D Luniz already pointed out I highly doubt it will get that far, but even if that happens, the result of the election stand until they get overturned. Them being called into question doesn't mean he gets elected.

LARRY ELDER'S PEOPLE HAVE DETECTED FRAUD ALREADY!

Only a bit of a problem in that the election is ongoing and results haven't even begun to be counted...nor that it makes no mention of what the actual fraud "is".

And I suppose he thinks a victory for Newsom means he's "reinstated" which...it doesn't, it just means Newsom continues doing the job he's been doing since he was elected.

Fucking hell I deeply loathe these dishonest shits.

First numbers are coming in, from some counties in California, and it isn't looking good for the recall election. Some counties are beating 2020 numbers for Biden. Granted the numbers are extremely early.

Don't jinx it. Hopefully Californian's are sane enough to vote no on recall and reject black Trump as governor.

Yeah, most of the numbers are the mail in votes they have gotten, which is about 70-75% of the total votes. Some of the biggest counties, like LA County, 60% of the vote was apparently by mail, there is 10 million people in that county. They would have to get 40% of that county's votes, for the recall to succeed. They are currently at 23.7%.

Steve Kornacki is the best of the business for breaking down numbers.

Dave Wasserman of the Cook Political Report already called it on Twitter and declared that the recall has failed based on the numbers coming in.
