Just thought about this some more, and how sad this whole thing was and zero lessons learned.

To put this in perspective for people, all the harm, years of abuse, belittling, sexual harassment, and more all comes down to being fined, for our perspective 18 Cents

What an absolute f'ing joke. Nothing, no lesson learned, carry on as usual.

Welp good luck Blizz peeps, get ready for some major extreme blow back, all those petitions, walkouts all for nothing and all it did was put a great big f'ing target on your head. I mean what's going to happen next time a 19 cent fine. Oooo 19 cents so scared says Blizz Bullies as they seek massive payback revenge. If anything all this has done was make things worse there for everyone's future, look at the peeps they are hiring top tier, near militant stature, yeah that just screams happy development atmosphere.

No lesson learned? They are still learning it, they are now under 3rd party supervision approved by governmental offices, as well as having to follow certain guidelines in forming paperwork and implementation correctly, not to mention a victim's account of 18 million. Might not be much but considering that the known rotten apples (men and women) have left the company, more might be there, but if not, it is a win going forward to build the company up in shape again. Now we just need Kotick to get his due, which he's currently under investigation about.
Stuff can be fixed, just get enough glue or duct tape!

Nope, no lesson learned except maybe that they need to make sure they sound good and be more careful.

It seems that, recently at least, few if any corporations actually face justice. The golden rule they go by is: whoever has the gold makes the rules.

Change recently with always. Tbf, it was even worse before when none of this shit came forth don't you think? World wide.

Its a step forward in many ways, but you are correct, in many ways, that money is power.
    - Everything that lives is designed to end. We are perpetually trapped in a never ending spiral of life and death. Is this a curse? Or some kind of punishment? I often think about the god who blessed us with this cryptic puzzle… and wonder if we’ll ever get the chance to kill him.

It'll get worse with more globalization and the continued marriage of corporations with governments, as a corporation doesn't have to necessarily respond to its customers when it's getting backing/support from government and a large portion of their customers either are ignorant/unaware or don't care about how they conduct business. While people will rail on sweat shops and deplorable working environments, the reality is that most people will still buy products from companies who engage in such activities. This is major reason why US companies bow down to China despite all their issues is because their market is large and their labor is cheap, but a side effect is that they may just stop caring about the local needs/wants in the US. We've already seen massive pandering to China from many mainstream corporations, and you'll likely start seeing more pandering towards India as their market grows.

Ultimately, the main problem that ties into the thread's topic is that all these negatives that appear from crony capitalism and destructive/abusive/<insert negative attribute> workplace environments are all rooted in a lack of morality. The main reason why I don't think Blizz will ultimately learn or change for good is because there is zero indication that they value or embrace any morality. The virtue signal itself is a self-implication that you want people to think you value and embrace certain morals while likely not. The kneejerk changes to WoW and all the Blizz franchises that are white-washing the games clearly indicate their actions are not based upon some profound morale belief, they're just trying to save face (and their butts) at any cost. Until you see some actual moral standards from the top down, this process will just repeat itself.

Simply said, any business without moral grounding is doomed to slip into corruption eventually, as they are all owned and operated by humans. May not be today, may not be tomorrow, may not be for 100 years... but if there is no moral foundation to be found, the entire structure will eventually crumble.

“Society is endangered not by the great profligacy of a few, but by the laxity of morals amongst all.”
“It's not an endlessly expanding list of rights — the 'right' to education, the 'right' to health care, the 'right' to food and housing. That's not freedom, that's dependency. Those aren't rights, those are the rations of slavery — hay and a barn for human cattle.”

100% agreed, this whole fiasco just made them learn they need to be more clever and not so obv.

So the way it'll work now is "We need to let peeps go cause our subs dropped, where is that petition list, ok let 80% of them go, and 20% wherever, don't want to make it look to obv"

Why did anyone think it would be anything more than that? People have been posting over and over again how these suits were going to end, all of it is going to end up being settlements and slaps on the wrists when its all said and done.

Not really a way to be more clever, and less obvious about harassing, belittling, and otherwise abusing people. A reduction in manpower tied to a marked decrease in subscriptions is a normal occurrence. The removal of the offending leadership, and complicit enablers is another thing all together.

Yeah that too, the whole thing is such a shit show. I hope it gets better there but, 18 million really? Heck that's not even a slap on the wrist more like a finger wag naughty boy. I'm sure they are confident the petition is their list of complicit enablers.

Bottom line: I hope they turn the game around and that is becasue things have improved there.
