I'm more inclined to think that due to the lawsuit and everything they can push these changes because whoever approves what flies and what doesnt cannot say no because he/she will be painted as sexist/misogynistic or what have you out of fear.

lol i've played wow since launch and have missed hearing several of these jokes and flirts. Some of them are quite funny. Glad Blizzard removes them cause if not I would never have read/heard them.

Actually is just the purple hair devs that redeemed these chenges. Check twitter and you will find out.

There are more things that are offensive than any of those jokes or flirts. Heck, if you don't play with the sound on or even use those emotes, you'd never even know they exist. As others have said, some of those are just things I never even heard of when trying to hear them all.

This game has a rating for a reason. They need to stop the over zealous pandering they are trying to do and focus on getting the game in a good state.

Only thing getting some community interest is Blizzard turning WoW into a PEGI3 game

'Devs' being a vocal subset bullying the team at large.

There's nothing negative being said in that joke, the joke is the misunderstanding of the word homogenized.
"Homogenized? No way, I like the ladies" is basically a "hahah no bro I'm straight" joke. Which is mildly deragotry to gay folks, and also pretty noninclusive since some guys who play Tauren most assuredly like the men, rather than the ladies (or both!)

Still not sure what's homophobic about it. The joke isn't how taboo it is to be gay... it's about misunderstanding of the word homogenized milk.
If someone asks me if I'm gay and I say I'm straight, am I being derogatory to gays? If someone asks if I'm straight and I say I'm gay, am I derogatory to straights?

I mean the joke is literally
    "Is your milk homogenized?"
    "Homogenized? No I'm straight".

It's literally just stating ones sexuality. There is nothing derogatory in that statement. Unless the answer is yes to the questions above.
This seems like regressive thinking which causes more divides and tension about something that's normal... sexuality.

What snowflakes? None of this has been asked for.

They're doing that "Wait we're in trouble for stuff that relates to sex?... Fine... We'll remove all sex/innuendo/humour from the game... happy?" Childish overreaction that will make zero difference to the real issue and likely will fail to appease anyone. Instead of the changes needed within their company, they're sterilising the game. Honestly, has anyone ever heard a complaint about harassment by emote... ever? Plus cant you still make up your own using /e or whatever the command was? I'd be less concerned if I honestly thought their reasoning related to actually trying to fix something, but they seem to be throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

Think the snowflakes in this case are the particular devs that pushes for these changes. Who said outright on twitter they've done it because they wanted the changes etc etc.

Comments on wowhead are now insta locked... you can't say you do not agree with these changes anymore... 'Free speech'...
Good to see many people here defendeding this shitty company past few years finally changing their minds.
Sadly some will be stuck in whiteknighting forever...

WoWhead always shuts down comments when they know the comments won't be in defense of Blizzard. That entire site is run by shills.

Huh. They took out the "Two tents" human male joke. That's gonna be missed. I always enjoyed it.

I find it odd that so many things about the game is changed because the company messed up.
Jokes were in the game for years and years, it was fine, it was never the problem.
The problem is Blizzard and some of the people who work/worked for them.

Making changes like these in light of recent developments just comes across as placating the public, if they truly cared about their
workers, change would have happened many years ago.
Better late than never but it feels hollow.

You're joking, but I expect the male/female symbols at character creation to be replaced by "body type" similar to Cyberpunk.

Weird since there is such a movement for freedom in everything, including sexuality and adult themes overall, but they're going the opposite of it.
It's complicated though. Let's forget the real world context.

Let's just focus on the realistic nature of this, or lack thereof, inside the game.

I mean, take the male pandaren quote - most male pandaren even inside the game seem to be laid-back, relaxed, all about harmony and nature, kind of like the Zen Buddhist monk archetype, NOT someone who casually makes flirtatious and suggestions jokes about pandaren females out in the open, can you imagine Taran Zhu suddenly making that kind of statement out of the blue, for example? Or even the likes of Ji Firepaw and Aysa making those statements to each other while laughing? The same for tauren and night elves - both their cultures are actually pretty conservative and traditional, seemingly frowning on these kind of open flirtations, I don't think Tyrande and Malfurion have even hugged each other once in the game, let alone kiss or show any public affection, or made any such jokes.

Of course, maybe that was the intention -- breaking the Fourth Wall, or something -- but from a certain perspective, it is still a bit out of character and sync, like pushing believability, all things considered. I would think that even if this was 2012 (when Pandaria was first released).
"Always you speak. Never do you listen! You ignore the lessons of Pandaria! You see, there is balance in all things. Wisdom etched in our very fur: Black and white. Darkness and light. When the last emperor hid our land from the rest of the world, he also preserved...our ancient enemy, the mantid. So it is with your Alliance and your Horde. They are not strong despite one another; they are strong BECAUSE of one another. You mistake your greatest strength for weakness. Do you see this?"

Pretty much that. Then they gloat about it on Twitter and circlejerk how virtuous they are and how unreasonable and problematic the heckin gamers are.
