I rely on you to inform the thread of all the implications you derive from the shared opinion that the "GOP is shitting on marginalized groups for political points with their base." At least some of those points, when brought up in current events, will not run afoul of the proscriptions regarding Religion, Race/Ethnicity, Nationalism and nation bashing, Abortion, Sexuality, Gender, Gender identity.

The flippant alternative, that the [other side] just wants [right-wing talking point about lgbtq2ii+ people] is certainly not tolerated.

Voter ID laws expressly designed to disenfranchise minorities, constantly batted down as intentionally racist by courts.
"Bathroom laws" targeting a problem that doesn't exist. Same goes for highschool sports which suddenly they care deeply about and are super duper cereal.
Constant and vocal xenophobia and demonization of immigrants, especially those of certain ethnic persuasions (shithole countries, anyone?)

I could go on, but those are all pretty common/central tenants for Republicans nowadays. If you can't connect those dots it's because your pen ran out of ink or because you're intentionally choosing to ignore all that context because they didn't explicitly say it, ignoring the intent of these bills and political positions.

Yes, but only until they manage to make it legal to murder them.

I mean...there are places in the world where men who share similar beliefs to Republicans will happily throw LGBT people off of rooftops. So are you really surprised that they wouldn't care about them killing themselves?

Reminder for those who find it convenient to forget context. There was a disturbing amount of support for the Taliban agenda from extreme right wingers in the US and Europe, they were especially supportive of their policies regarding women and LGBTQ+ communities.

Because connecting dots can be really, really hard.

You can do the same thing with Hitler quotes. Once you edit around the specific groups being targeted, the fundamental rhetoric is the same; the need to protect traditions, "family values", Christian nation, oppose the "deviancy" that "Marxists" promote, etc and so forth. They've just updated the talking points for a new context, but the attitude and rhetoric is not meaningfully different.

I'm not a resident of Texas and I don't have to make the informed choice of whether to vote for him or not. It's entirely possible that if I were less ignorant of local Texas politics, I'd have a very different opinion. If I spent today and tomorrow reading up on Abbott's governorship through the years, and thought him a total scumbag afterwards, it wouldn't be the first nor the last Republican on whom I've come to that conclusion.

Dan Patrick and Ken Paxton are probably as well known to me as Rob Bonta and Eleni Kounalakis are to you. I don't really watch national cable news networks, I mostly read newspapers and articles on the national wires and online publications.
I would think that the whole debacle with Texas losing power people waiting in line for basic supplies, Ted Cruz escaping to Cancun and the governor lying about the cause of his complete failure to provide for his people would be enough. I mean I don't know what Abbot has to do for anyone who hasn't been in a coma to not realize that he is bad at this job so he has to virtue signal and wage culture war.

To this day Texas infrastructure hasn't been reformed, the utility companies are still free to bankrupt their customers if they wish that's on top of other issues he is not addressing instead of which toys are sold in what section in a store.

    It’s projection as always.

“I’m a huge lying racist piece of shit so everyone else has to be as well.” without the self awareness and a big dose of smuggery.

You're really overestimating how conservative gen Z is going to be.

But i'm sure a lot of countries will stay as homophobic and transphobic as you want them to be. Make Saudia Arabia is more to your liking?

Are people really in here pearl clutching when someone said Texan politicians are bad people?

You mean, from the same people that brought you "Its up to yourselves to survive" when the terrible state infrastructure went to shit after they were warned it was going to happen?

Like seriously you are going to tell people to be patient and ask for proof? Like what do you expect, sticky fingerprint and a note written in the Governors blood telling them to take down the website?

Like how many objectively shitting things does it take before you stop giving Texan politicians the benefit of the doubt?

I imagine going from a Bernie supporting "anarchist" to a theocratic fascist is quite the journey.
Populists (and "national socialists") look at the supposedly secret deals that run the world "behind the scenes". Child's play. Except that childishness is sinister in adults.

Why should I take your word on how you'd like to identify when your commentary and the hills you choose to die on tell a different story, yet you won't return the favor to other people?

That's the funny thing about people who gobble up all these right-wing grifts, they claim to be open-minded and truth-seekers but you don't have to press them that hard to reveal that they're just reading from a script that was hand-fed to them by podcasters and youtube talking heads. You find they're not open-minded at all and dismiss counter-arguments quickly, despite not having invested any time whatsoever to understand those arguments. I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but it's more than common for people who are radicalized by this slop to have strong struggles of identity, which people like Peterson gobble up. I used to roll my eyes when people like you pointed it out but all you have to do is spend a little time in his subreddit and see which podcasts and youtube shows he likes to visit for exposure to realize it's true.

One minute they're talking about how crazy the leftists are and the next they're talking about borrowing practices from countries who practice gender apartheid all with no self-awareness at all.

The golden age of western liberalism stopped somewhere in the early 2000s. You can't exactly say that the western world has been able to spread liberalism across the globe over the past few decades, on the contrary, conservative ideologies are instead gaining more support among more people and among more nations. Personally, I too would welcome the influence of such nations if it means suppressing progressive goals within our own western societies.
I really, really don't give a shit about global liberalism or whatever the fuck your on about, and nothing actually points towards conservatism actually growing in every single nation. Rojava is still alive and kicking and the far right in europe, no matter how much you want it to grow, has pretty much been at the same level for like the last decade. Even if said far right just keeps getting more insane.

The problem with the western nations i the exact opposite, that they keep finding excuses to invade/mess with those countries, but you keep on supporting the exact same conservatives that want to continue doing this, i'm sure it'll work out.

Or just move to Saudia Arabia to realize your dream of oppressing LGBT folk and Woman, seems easier because I don't see the central and western european nations turning back on this.

You must be the first Anarchist I ever met who loves China and Russia.
I would advice against moving to China though, they tend to be rather hard on anarchists.
