I had no idea there was a Blizzard employee with the last name of McCree because I don't follow the employees of Blizzard whatsoever. I think the new name is meh and I miss the old name.

Even if people knew there was an employee with this name, it doesn't mean they are showing solidarity with him if they like the name McCree. It's a name, and a cool one at that... cooler than the new one.

No, it is happening. The zone changed, it belongs to the Goblins now and is their home. Hearthstone is having a mechanical themed expansion soon, November's cardback is Goblin influenced and revealed concept art shows Goblin machinery. It's a HS expansion, sorry.

What constitutes mentally ill in your eyes?
Thanks for the ad-hominem; it supports your inability to support your argument.

I tried to make the ticket to get the free name change. First reply, "you already used your free namechange years ago, gotta pay 10 euro". 2nd reply, "just go to account management settings and click change name (it costs 10 euro).

I just closed the ticket, they clearly don't know about their own "promotion" here. Also I got a different person responding every time they talked.

why can't people separate real life problems from fictional problems?

It doesn't make you an asshole for preferring the name or wanting to name your own characters McCree, it only makes you an asshole if you argue that they shouldn't be changing the name at all because you don't care as much as the people who worked with the guy.
So I wonder if they'll hire a young woman with the last name McCree...?

I don't know why you would think they wouldn't... they're not namesist against the name McCree, they're just getting rid of the name in Blizzard properties because it was a reference to a guy everyone at the company appears to agree shouldn't be referenced.

I mean, he drank water, they're not going to go around removing water from the game. Surely you can see it's ridiculous to assume they wouldn't hire a completely unrelated person for having the same name when the whole point is they're removing references specifically made to reference a problematic individual.

Except very few people knew he was named after this guy. I’ve been a Blizzard fanatic since 2000 and even I didn’t know who this guy was until recently. It’s not like he’s the only one with the name. It’s also fucking hilarious they just shit all over WoW lore by changing the name of Mac’Aree in game even though that had been the name of a known Argus area for a decade plus. Oh well Blizzard of today are shit and finally suffering for it so they can keep spending their time trying to hide the past while the players abandon them entirely. Works out in the end.

    Well, good news.

It's not a change made for the players. It's a change made by the developers for their own peace of mind.

It doesn't matter if the majority of players knew about who a character referenced if the people who were victims do.

Exactly. It’s just a piece of art. No one was complaining. I find it hilarious this is considered offensive in a video game about murdering and war. The violence is no big thang.

That’s really fucking sad if that’s the case. This video game was made for players. Not for employees. I’m pretty sure business 101 days this is retarded. If they can’t continue to work seeing a random name that’s been in game lore since apparently WC3 (Mac’arees first reference) then maybe they don’t have the stability to hold the job down.

Should probably stop associating a fictional character with a real person.

They are not the same person.

All these changes are said to be because of the devs ”peace of mind” Both overwatch and WoW.

Has nothing to do with players.

Just devs want the game to refect their views and values.
