its rly funny how people think its sexist and people get hired for their gender if its women, but when a company hires 99% men its perfectly fine

they arent getting hired because they are women, they are just stoping the male favortism

nope, people think its sexist if gender plays ANY role in hiring proces, people should be hired based on skill not gender, hiring more women doesnt magicaly guarantee the product will be better, same as hiring more men, hiring people who know what the fuck they do actualy might...
and that is the issue, if you HAVE TO hire woman you will pass on man who would be perfect for the job just bcs he is man, which is DEFINITELY sexist (and would be ofc other way around)

thing is gaming companies are predominantly male bcs there is more men interested in videogames, simple as that, thats why more are working in the field, and are more likely to have better qualification or more experience...

and funny how its only "problem" in fields that are predominantly male where the job is not physicaly difficult or disgusting, but is well paid... somehow nobody have problem with garbage disposal workers being mostly men...

And this is where things enter rage levels as these same people will claim that you can't be sexist to men! Sexism only works one way and that is against females.
Retail sucks. Classic sucks. No positivity, only negative feedback. Why is everybody so damn miserable? Must be somebody else's fault, it couldn't possibly be my INSANELY TOXIC ATTITUDE.

And that's why that entire statement was pr bullshit and anyone taking it seriously should seek professional help for their mental inefficiencies.

Yay more token people, delusional ideology and a waste of time, money, resources and good concepts.

Ugh, even Trump was better than this nonsense.

Skill is not the only factor. In fact skill is baseline. If you don't have the required skill then you don't even make it to the first round of interviews. What is more important is creativity and culture fit. You want your employees to get along and you want them to be innovative. Blizzard has a culture problem. They want to create a more inclusive culture. One way to do that could be to hire more non males. If that is the direction they are going then being a non male does make you more qualified.

I honestly wish they could make the hiring process for programming jobs just completely blind tbh. Fake name, no picture and straight text interview / online skill testing questions. Not really feasible I guess, but it'd be nice to see people hired just on straight talent without gender or race or religion coming into it. It'd hopefully lead to a more diverse workplace

Imagine doing that shtick of a speech for a company that happens to have a decent % of non-white folks.

Yep, it's racist and sexist. The "tolerant" left. Those who cry for tolerance the loudest are the most intolerant. Go woke, go broke.

People look at this entirely the wrong way. It's not about preventing men getting into these roles, it's about promoting a better balance.

If a company is predominantly male then its kind of hard to balance that, so these initiatives do help. Now, many people will say that they should only hire on skill - and that's true - but ensuring you have a good balance is important.

This is a creative medium and building a game only from a straight, white male perspective doesn't make for compelling story telling. What makes for good story telling is having a whole blend of people from different cultures and with different experiences to bring that wealth of differing experiences into the game.

Equally from the technology point of view, women aren't as represented in this field as men. Children do look to what's possible from their elders, and many women no doubt feel excluded from many tech roles because its already male dominated.

Breaking that mold is important to building better games, better stories and a better experience for all. They shouldn't be firing guys, nor should qualified men be denied their place in the company but with this initiative it'll be kept in mind that when you have two Equally qualified individuals it's better to diversify your workforce than just hire what you already know and have.

If they set a quota for themselves, they will change/lower the baseline skill requirements to meet those quotas. Look at the military. They made a pledge to get more women in, and they lowered the requirements so that more women would get it.

Fields of professions have different sexes favoring it. That is all. I hope Blizzard can get more talents in that they need, so gl with that, but its like...Have you seen the statistics for the healthcare field. Dont tell me there aint stereotypes about male nurses or elderly caretakers. He'll im quit sure if you are a male and you wanna work in a kinder garden its favored in your application. But good if Blizzard sees a problem and trying to better it, but I just want the best games in the end, not what they as a company thinks is good...

Best Buy did 100% this last year right after firing over 5000 of its workforce and somehow went un-noticed in the news.
