Thread’s clearly about dunking on those parents. It’s all over the title and OP.

And if I know one thing about mental health, it’s definitely accusing other people of telling lies to preserve their fragile mental health.

I did embed the video to avoid the “this stuff ain’t going on.” And anti-racism as mental health isn’t an esoteric grad level course — you must be thinking of a popular criticism of CRT. CASEL isn’t dumb enough to post a video about grad level legal theory and encourage it in schools.

I will ask you again, Why do you think racism has no effect on mental health? do you think people of color have no feelings?

I just brought up the video I linked as an example to your "it isn't happening/its all white washing history," and you're fleeing from that quickly. I have no interest in answering your questions if you don't stand behind your past posts. This is doubly true when you state and double down on your policy of denying Rittenhouse a legal defense and accusing others of defending white supremacists based on it (which makes everyone wanting his guilt for the murder of Rosenbaum guilty of "defending pedophiles" I hope you know)

You've been dodging that question for a while now just go back to your celebration of your hero's freedom.

Nothing to "flee" from. The video you linked is not objectionable and does not push the bullshit you're claiming. You're making that shit up.

    I agree with you.

While the parents shouldn't be able to "currate" the curriculum in a way that defines what is learned within a specific subject and must leave it to professionals, said professionals and schools must make sure that schools remain institutions of learning and knowledge, not quasi-psychiatric infirmaries. Every school used to have a psychologist - a behavioural pedagogue - who would talk to the student and the students' parents, should weird, questionable or unacceptable behaviour be noticed.

Children should be learning about math, physics, chemistry, biology, poetry, history and more, instead of being asked whether they feel like a boy or a girl or whatever else there is to pick nowadays and being told they're part of the problem by their fellow students and/or teachers because they have a specific skin color. Some of the things that have been recorded in US schools and posted on the internet make me wonder about what is going on over there in the US and why so many lost common sense.

I'm not particularly interested in the pearl clutching about things that have been recorded in schools, given the demonstrably false (creationism) and harmful (abstinence-only) """education""" that is supported as a matter of public policy in some areas. The same areas that don't want their LGBT children to know, understand, and feel comfortable with the differences in their body/mind to the other kids around them.

You almost had it until you went to the bold part and beyond. Why you believe in those boogeymen I don't know, but I guarantee you blaming you because you're white, they are not asking if you want to be an attack helicopter for your gender, and you are not seeing anything more than thin skinned little bitches complaining about "the good ol' days bein' gawn" where you can be racist and not get in trouble.

I'm European, so these videos that are coming out of the US look like complete lunacy to me. Then again, there's local skirmishes and wars all over Europe based on ethnicity and religion. I guess this is your version of what we've got/had here.

First of all, having some outside insight into the history of US politics, I am convinced that there's no left in the US. I also don't understand why you'd think I fell for some propaganda about "evil leftists". I'm merely pointing out what I've seen on some YouTube videos, university adverts and elsewhere because wherever you go, these things follow you. It doesn't matter whether you're looking at gaming, sports, politics or culture, these things keep coming up and its always a back and forth between the same talking points. It's hard to turn towards anything without someone arguing about this or bringing it up. Gaming, one of my hobbies and my favourite form of entertainment, is falling victim to this too, so I couldn't help but notice it.

I've seen that universities seem to be introducing favourable entry based on race and I've seen news of discrimination against Asian students too, who seem to be continously accused of having too many of their kind in classes/universities for students who perform exceptionally well. I see videos of teachers talking politics to kids(ie you shouldn't be pro this or that, often even arguing with students) and students having to take some sort of bias questionare. I saw photos of LGBT flags in classrooms of public schools(the only flag that should potentially be sitting in a classroom is the flag of the country the school is in because it is an institution paid for by taxes), whereas schools shouldn't be pointing sexuality and sex out, unless it is a class that is specifically designed to educate children about safe sex, STDs and so on, which is entirely acceptable and welcome. Schools aren't meant to give advice on sexuality and replace the role of the parent when it comes to this(there certainly are and should be institutions that replace bad parents who neglect their children or harm them in any way) and much more importantly, healthcare workers. They're there to teach knowledge and everything else must be done in coordination with the parents and healthcare institutions. The teachers and schools must inform the parents if children show signs of troubling behaviour(ie bullying, irrational anxiety, signs of mental problems), but that's where their role must stop.

This is what I saw as an outsider who in reality has no investment, personal or emotional, into these problems, but I do get drawn into discussing it from time to time because it's fascinating in a sense. If this is what Americans want, then that's completely fine with me as I'm an outside observer. Some of the simplest of things over there look like they have come out of a parody show; like an enclosure and the rest of the world is watching over the fence either laughing or wondering what's going on.

Be ready to be called a conservative/rascist/fascist (take your pick), etc...

Unfortunately, all that BS is coming to Europe and it is very hard to have a moderate opinion these days since for those people, you are either with them or against them.

You're probably gonna get hell for bolded.

Your instincts are right on quite a bit of this stuff. It's going to get even more interesting to watch soon. The backlash on the things you identify, like justification of Asian-American discrimination in applications, politics and bias, and sex sexuality and gender, is only going to get worse. The people that support boxing out parents from the education of their kids have only recently been exposed to parents and voters in general. Just keep reading. I think you'll see way more school-district and state-level fights starting soon.

Yikes. Give the victim complex a rest already.

Schools actually do have parental like rights and replace the role of the parent while children are there. You can argue about what that should apply to but to make a blanket statement like that is incorrect.

I do not live in the US hopefully but unfortunately, you have a thing called Internet and stupid people over get idea. So it would be nice if you started to have a decent school system with proper curriculum, thanks.

I’m really curious what elementary, middle, and high school classes conservative parents think all of this “indoctrination” is happening in. Teachers in American public schools don’t have the time or desire to indoctrinate kids. They’re just trying to get through the day as quickly and efficiently as possible.

What’s really happening is that you’re getting conservative parents getting hard questions from their increasingly globalized children, and they don’t like it.

This is almost certainly incorrect. Limited guardianship is a pretty standard thing for teachers. This is why a teacher, for instance, can make your kids stay in class rather than just getting up and leaving whenever they want to.

Also, in this context, what people are bitching about is that teachers are actually supportive of their students' self-knowledge and mental health, where some parents would prefer their kids to repress their identities because those parents are abusive bigots.

Not saying teachers can't be abusive bigots, too; sex ed programs have often been manipulated in exactly that manner. But in this specific context, we're talking about full and open education about sexual orientation and gender identity, and you'd have to be a bigot to have a problem with your kids learning about that. The same way you'd have to be a racist to take issue with your kids being taught that black kids are just as worthwhile as white kids.
