DDR4 will be just fine for the next few years, no real point in upgrading to it right away plus it's expensive af right now with limited options.

Best off waiting a while imo.

I have no clue about selling parts because I never done that. It's been over 20 years since I bought the newest stuff when it came out.

If money doesn't matter and you are upgrading to a DDR5 platform why not. If money matters and you are looking for power to dollar RIGHT NOW it's not a huge if any advantage. Eventually things will take advantage of it better and it will be a great thing to have. But for a year or two things will just be about DD4 being good enough to equal to it. So to early adopt now means you won't get a ton for it and by the time it is something everyone has or wants/has you will have a lot better sticks of DD5 out there in all likelihood and will want those anyway.

But like most things in these past few years its scalped to HELL right now. So you are going to be paying the early adoption tax for being first in line and jerk tax from the scalpers. If anything this is probably the best reason to just chill for a while.

The best DDR5 kits right now are barely if at all better then a good DDR4 kit. Upgrade to DDR5 in a couple of years when kits have better speeds and CPU's can take better advantage of the new platform. Unless you have more money then sense, then do whatever you want, but the money that you would spend on a DDR5 kit is better spent elsewhere and getting a good DDR4 kit. DDR5 likely won't be mainstream for at least a couple of years at best, likely longer with shortages the way they are.
