Nothing is going to happen in Moldova in the near future. Ukraine has indicated publicly they're ready to help Moldova with their transnistria issue if Russia tries anything, and there's no reason to doubt their commitment to that as it would also remove a thorn in their own side in the ongoing war.
2016 I think was his first retirement attempt. Since then he's basically become more and more ostracised from Putin. He's not a decision maker or in the inner circle (he wasn't even informed of the invasion until the first missiles flew.)
He's basically nothing more than the Iraqi that was talking about huge victories for Iraq as American M1s were rolling into central Baghdad.
Wouldn't be surprised if he just knows too much, but also too well connected to people outside of Russia to be offed or fired.
He is a vastly experienced and skilled diplomat who knows how to handle people and negotiate. He may not create international politics, but all these things are still very valuable and may be the reason he is still kept around. And I wouldn't go wild with "he knows too much". This is all a very loyal and tight knit group who knows the price of betrayal. Plus, what reason would he have it to risk this much? He is Team Putler since the beginning and a benefactor of Kremlin system.

Sometimes, the light of the moon is a key to other spaces. I've found a place where, for a night or two, the streets curve in unfamiliar ways. If I walk here, I might find insight, or I might be touched by madness.
American source that cites a Russian source.
It was at this point that I took a look around for what that illness could be, suspecting the answer is "allergic to concrete". Big surprise, I found nothing on any English-speaking site. Even time-stamping the search didn't find anything referring to his illness but poorly-dated sites with this very article.Ravil Maganov,, chairman of the board of directors for the Russian oil and gas giant Lukoil, died Thursday after falling out of a window at a hospital in Moscow, Russian news agency Interfax reports, citing an anonymous source.
Maganov is the latest in a series of Russian oligarchs, many of whom were involved in Russia's energy sector, who have died under unexplained circumstances.
Before Maganov's death on Thursday, at least seven Russian oligarchs have met sudden unexplained — and sometimes violent — deaths this year, though suicide is officially suspected in the incidents, according to Deutsche Welle.
Two sources confirmed to Reuters Thursday that Maganov, 67, died after falling from a window at Moscow's Central Clinical Hospital.
Two people familiar with Maganov also told Reuters they believed it was highly unlikely he had committed suicide.
Lukoil, Russia's second biggest oil and gas company, said in a statement Thursday that Maganov "passed away following a severe illness."
I know we have some Russians on this site, perhaps they can find a documentation of this supposed severe illness from before this "accident"? Until something backs this claim, I will diagnose the illness as "acute pushouta windowson"
I will admit, it's technically possible he loved his plane so much he'd rather die than live without it. I find that pretty low on the list."Ravil Maganov immensely contributed to the development of not only the Company, but of the entire Russian oil and gas sector," it added.
Lukoil's board of directors seemingly broke ranks with the Kremlin in March by calling for "the soonest termination" of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, CNN reports.
"We express our sincere empathy for all victims, who are, wait, what are you doing, no NO, AAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaa......," the board said just days after the start of the invasion.
The Department of Justice announced Wednesday that the U.S. obtained a warrant to to seize a corporate aircraft owned by Lukoil.
They do love their hospital suicides but they've got options. Just do a drive-by within spitting distance of the Kremlin or something. It's hardly as if Russia doesn't have multiple options for people to "conveniently" kill themselves/be the victim of a random act of violence. It's just a coincidence the victims are almost all critics of the current regime. Could happen in any country.
I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.
Honestly not wanting to live in a shit hole while you watch your fortune evaporate is a pretty good reason to commit suicide.
Yup, it's totally believable one just happens to slip on banana peels and fall out of hospital windows. And, of course having criticized the "speshul operation" has no relation to the case. None. He was just depressed about having less billions, rather than more billions.
I'd kill myself too!
