Insane numbers. At what point will Russia start to run out of meat to thrown into the grinder? After everyone between 18 and 40 is dead?

It's not entirely wrong of course, those who survive are more likely to stay alive due to experience, but that's nothing a little saturation bombing won't solve.

Even that isn't particularly useful to Russia when they're not rotating people with extensive combat experience back home to serve as instructors for mobiks, and that is something Russia isn't doing to any great extent as far as we know.

Any mobik who has looted his frozen comrade's coat is that much more likely to make it through winter.

Absolutely correct, they apparently started a NCO academy last year to finally have a corps of sergeants to teach new recruits. A bit late...

Also, putin is open to talks I suppose that's what happens when you get your teeth kicked in, and, unless a precondition is that russia is no longer on Ukrainian territory, Ukraine should obviously be very wary.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov struck a dovish tone when asked about Biden's remarks, saying that Putin remained open to negotiations but that Russia would not pull out of Ukraine.
"The president of the Russian Federation has always been, is and remains open to negotiations in order to ensure our interests," Peskov told reporters.
No point in talking while Russia is refusing to leave Ukraine.
It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death

Putin must realise that the only part he's going to negotiate is going to be the x in the statement "all Russian troops withdraw from Ukraine territory, Russia recognises the full extent of Ukraine's sovereign borders (including Crimea) and Russia pays $xbn towards the cost of rebuilding Ukraine"

There might also be an extra "and Russia doesn't whine when Ukraine joins NATO". Because we all know that Russia can't be trusted to hold up their side of whatever ceasefire terms they sign up to.

Because the alternative is Putin carries on pretending this is a war he can win until his entire country collapses. Or until someone gets the chance to introduce him to window induced food poisoning.

I haven't seen any serious news sources reporting on it, which isn't surprising given the source.

It'd be nice if true though.

The only people I meet who escalate that fast are literal children. Luckily you don't have to worry about it because people are going to retain dual citizenship despite your off topic rants.

Only in Russia, you can commit suicide by 5-man firing squad - according to Kremlin

    https://meduza.io/en/feature/2022/11...-investigation

‘Self-execution by firing squad’ After Russian colonel overwhelmed by mobilization duties dies in supposed suicide, his widow asks Putin to oversee investigation
A paragraph later in the article:

If this tragic death happened at Boiko’s own hand, which the investigation still has yet to determine, then it’s probably the first case of this kind of suicide in Russia — self-execution by firing squad.

Falling down stairs sucks at any age... What's with Russian leaders dying all the time.

The distance between what is said and what is known to be true has become an abyss. Of all the things at risk, the loss of an objective reality is perhaps the most dangerous. The death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil. When truth leaves us, when we let it slip away, when it is ripped form our hands, we become vulnerable to the appetite of whatever monster screams the loudest.

Mariupol becoming even bigger graveyard to "hide" russian war crimes.

    https://twitter.com/Maxar/status/1598767829456912384

The main city cemetery (Starokrymske) on the western side of #Mariupol has had significant expansion of the number of graves.
@Iphie I am afraid your worst nightmare might be even worse when it comes to liberating Mariupol and seeing the results of a russian world.

    https://twitter.com/Maxar/status/1598766466396229632

In #Mariupol, a Russian military compound has been recently built in the north-center of the city. Notice the Russian Army slogan on the top of the roof.
    https://twitter.com/Maxar/status/1598770838903619584

Across the city of #Mariupol, dozens of high-rise apartment buildings that were destroyed or heavily damaged in March are now being demolished.
Liberation for russians means death to everyone else.

Russia planned to seize Ukraine within ten days and kill its leaders, according to new documents apparently signed off by Vladimir Putin.

The leaked plans, revealed by the Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies (Rusi), show that Russia aimed to have annexed the country by August.

Russia intended to capture Ukraine’s airfields, water supplies, central bank and parliament as Ukrainian officials either fled or were captured “as a result of the speed of the invasion".

The Kremlin created a "kill list" of Ukrainians that should be killed or suppressed.

According to Rusi, the plan was known to few in Russia's military and unit commanders did not receive orders to invade until hours before.
The invasion was meant to begin with a "massive missile and airstrike campaign" against Ukrainian military targets.

Critical infrastructure including railways and power stations would not be targeted as these were imperative for seizing full control of the country.

Russia also planned to use Belarusian airborne units to help in the capture of the Rivne and Khmelnytsky nuclear power plants, Ukraine’s intelligence community believes.

Officials planned to register the entire population by going door to door, noting if they should be eliminated or whether they were likely to collaborate.

They would divide them into four categories: Those who should be killed; those in need of suppression and intimidation; those considered neutral who should be encouraged to collaborate and those prepared to collaborate.

People would be processed through filtration camps.

Russia also intended to coerce the cooperation of local authorities and regional governors, with the Federal Security Service directed to capture local officials.

As time progressed, plans were proposed to “re-educate” Ukrainians by importing teachers and other officials from Russia.
At this point, anyone claiming that Russia is just trying to save Ukraine should be permabanned. Russia is trying nothing less but either enslaving an entire people, and as they are utterly failing at it, annihilating the whole country as alternative.

For Russia, you either obey, or you die.

Ugh...this is going to be a black stain on humanity.

But it seems that by not telling what was going to happen several things went wrong for the russians: No Belarussian involvement at the start nor any massive air and missile strikes so no "shock and awe".

Remember russia's claims that 'Winter is coming' and people would freeze to death without russian gas? Turns out for once they were correct. What they didn't tell you was that it would be russians freezing to death because they mobilised essential utility workers meant to keep the heating running. Opps.
