The red carpet is traditionally rolled out for foreign heads of states or important dignitaries. It's a tradition going back to the 5th century BC. Using it for celebrities is a historical novelty.

You are chronically ignorant aren't you? Also managed to get "pissed" about it?
I'm reflecting on the difference between this
and "I'd like you to do us a favor, though."
In my house, we would also roll out the red carpet for Mariah Carey.
Government Affiliated Snark
there's nothing to really take or dramatize from it than the fact red carpet (i.e, roll out the red carpet) is synonymous with celebrities. if that's how they treat all foreign dignitaries, then whatever, though I question if that means they would roll out such a carpet for someone like MBS with that loosely in mind.
It more resembles Air Force Two, but technically it can neither be Air Force One or Two, as those names mean that the planes carry the President or Vice President.
There are also reports that Zelensky flew on a C-40 - whereas AF2 is normally a C-32, and it looks more like the C-40 that flew Nancy Pelosi than a C-32.
If you people are speculating over why the Russians didn't shoot his aircraft down, I highly doubt it was fear of the West. The logical explanation is simply the fact there is obviously a lot of secrecy (and security) in transporting such a subject.
yeah exactly. I don't know why people think they'd seriously fly a plane without any measures or secrecy and boast "fuck around and find out"
I still believe if it was known where Zelenksy specifically was flying, the Russians would definitely have attacked it. The same goes for the likes of Boris Johnson, who made various unannounced and unnoticed (until he was at Kyiv) visits to Ukraine early this year.

So Zelensky tweeted that he was going to the US and then a gov't plane took off from eastern Poland, and lots of people began tracking it, but no Russian missiles got close
It takes a special skill to make failed predictions about the past.
