Man, why do these folks always get so triggered when they discover that people don't actually like them?

    Apparently China has had enough.

China is going to renew relations with the West and move away from Russia, - Financial Times.

The publication, citing sources, reports that Vladimir Putin did not warn Chinese President Xi Jinping about the upcoming "special operation" - this allegedly affected relations with China and even led to the demotion of the Deputy Foreign Minister of China, who did not predict the actions of the Russian Federation.

The publication also claims that China "recognizes the likelihood of Russia's defeat in Ukraine", where Russia will emerge from the Ukrainian conflict "as a minor power with less political and economic influence on the world stage."

    This is China...

In seriousness, it is kinda his job to have at least an inkling of what's going on and what is likely to happen in the near future.

According to the article he got demoted because he was their russian expert and completely failed to realise this was going to be a full scale invasion. As a result China thought this was to be some minor operation.

In his defense, we are in the 11th month of the 3-day special operation.

Well Putin does keep saying this is a 3 day operation.

The problem is that it's 3 *Russian* days which are only counted when Ivan isn't drunk and remembers to move the pin on the calendar to the next day. It's currently only been 2.

I know he's banned, but I still see him skulking around periodically:

@Shalcker How is your "alliance" with China working out, eh bud?

I mean, I guess it's a misread on his part if he said "There's absolutely no way Russia would be dumb enough to attempt a fullscale invasion of Ukraine."

Russia's flagship oil is selling at just half the market value and well below the G7 cap. China and India are taking them to the cleaners.

    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...pool-of-buyers

I think that may even below cost to produce.

They also had a $56 billion budget deficit last month which they were forced to cover with internal debt auctions. They are considering raising taxes and cutting services on top of that.

Shame? Shame requires a moral compass.

Imagine, Russia invades Ukraine, spends a year murdering Ukrainians, filling mass graves, committing mass rape and looting, annexes parts of the country after a fake referendum and your conclusion after all that is, "Nato bad."

I mean to make it even more basic.

Imagine looking at Bucha and concluding "Nato bad".

There's a reason Twitter gave him that "Russian state-affiliated media" tag. Dude used to be working for Sputnik and RT, which says it all really about his intentions.

I'd assume because he presented such an invasion as improbable. Which many people did but they don't have access to the privileged information he did.

  16. #27476
Considering the rumours at the time, even before the invasion actually started, was that China pushed Russia to not invade during the Olympics I imagine he wasn't just demoted for not realising Russia might invade Ukraine but more likely for not realising the extend or not anticipating Russia might actually lose.
It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death

Possibly, but there is the chance that China actually tells the truth and that putin didn't inform them at all which, granted, russia is within its rights to do, sovereignty and all that. (Ironic, I know).

The Chinese may be in it for China but I still trust them to occasionally tell the truth as they know it to be, as opposed to russia which can tell me the sky is blue and I'll go out to verify it myself.

Yeah no. China will absolutely lie to the outside world and its own people to protect the image of the ruling party.

Will want to see confirmation, but reportedly Poland is going to send Leopard tanks to Ukraine.

    - - - Updated - - -

Ok, it seems that Poland will do so as part of an international coalition - basically placing the ball in Germany's court. If they agree then Poland will contribute.

Could also be that pootler hinted about "something" and Xi asked for Olympics to get attention until then and this minister misread it.
