Seems the US did inform russia.

I mean that is smart, still a powermove on Biden's part.

    .....700 tanks pledged...

edit: misunderstood the news, about 700 tanks have already been given. This refers to the running total.

“Together, we’ve committed nearly 700 tanks and thousands of armored vehicles. 1,000 artillery systems, more than 2 million rounds of artillery ammunition, more than 50 advanced launch rocket systems, anti-ship and air defense systems, all to defend Ukraine,” Biden said. “And that doesn’t count the other half a billion dollars we’re announcing with you today and tomorrow that’s going to be coming your way.”
A lot of vehicles, tanks and armored vehicles alike. Is that a lot in the grand scale of things? I do not know. But sounds good!

Russia being told Biden was visiting is the expected norm.

Did people seriously think they wouldn't? "woops the US president just dies because we didn't tell anyone he was showing up, sorry Russia our bad"
It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death

Lower back pain is one of the few things Russia is open about when it comes to Putin, due to his falling off horses and history of playing Ice Hockey. So it might be true.

A bad year for the posters and podcasters that claimed "NATO is encroaching on Russia!" Enjoy your bans.
They held a Red-Brown Alliance rally yesterday in the capitol. Promoted by the Libertarian Party, People's Party, and every other grifter with a Patreon.

An idea about crowd size at the "Rage against the War Machine" rally, lots of Russian flags.

What has grifter and Putin lunch guest, Jill Stein been up too lately?

Reminder that Jill Stein voters, are and always will be stupid and gullible.
Ron Paul, Tulsi Gabbard, and Kucinich voters ... go fuck yourselves as well.

Just missing the 5th crank 3rd party candidate, otherwise it would have been a Grifter Voltron.

rofl, stein and gabbard must still be looking for work.

Does either of them have like, an actual job?

I forgot paul was alive though, thought he already died and freed us from his terminal stupidity.

US never ceases to surprise me.

Well, I guess that's a lie. I'm not really surprised. Not anymore.

How close to Idiocracy do we have to go, before it's okay to call it nation of morons and cunts?

Pretty much the same amount of crazy you get anywhere else. It's just exaggerated because it's on TV more often. Also exaggerated because people make "Commenting on the US" their whole Hobby.
Also exaggerated because of immigration. US immigration is fucked up... but it's still more open than most other places. So statistically we import more morons and C words.

There have been so many "mask off" moments the past year. Some Libertarians (!?) proving themselves to be in cahoots with russia now.

putin really had and have his finger in so many butts on all sides.

I am not claiming every person who is against helping Ukraine is necessarily a russian ally or stooge, but some specific powerful people (yes, compared to regular people - they have "megaphones") are as we can see in that rally. It really is surprising to me how many higher ups in America openly flaunts this. Mindboggling.

DeSantis and Trump both making public statements about capitulating to Russia, with Tucker circling the wagons on that make it explicitly - rather than just implicitly - clear where the GOP machine wants to steer the ship.

Will it be a winning message for them? Who can say,

To use the most polite word I can possibly muster; the non-stooges right now clutching their pearls about 'prolonging this war' are just morons or anti-western contrarians (who I guess I would also call morons).

Wording is a little harsh, but we're a year late and some thousands of Ukranian civilians murdered and/or kidnapped for me to care about sugar coating it anymore.

The GOP is a bit of a mixed bag over Ukraine. Some are out and out slobbering on pootie's little member but others are very firmly for helping Ukraine. Mostly those who were around for the Cold War. We can just hope that they hold the line in that regards.

A good read on the significance of Biden's visit.

    Especially like this bit;

This is a gut punch to Russia’s leader. The Russians received word of the trip, we are informed—and presumably the threat, stated or implied, that they would get a violent and overwhelming response if they attempted to interfere with it. For a leader obsessed with strength, like Putin, that is a blow. His own people will quietly or openly ask, “Why could we not prevent this?” And the answer, unstated, will have to be, “Because we were afraid.”

Speak softly and carry a big stick and all that. It was an impressive show of force that didn't involve flexing a single military asset.

More than 30 countries are now supporting a ban on russian and belarusian athletes from the Olympics. Most of Europe is onboard with it, including the host nation France, plus the US, Canada, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand and Australia. (Australia signed up to it after the article.)

The IOC still wants to allow them to compete as 'neutrals', but they have a history of protecting the rampant cheating that russia has undertaken in the past. Not to mention the close ties between the russian military and sports.

russia's media propogandists really weren't happy with Biden's visit.

You know, I don't support a blanket ban on athletes, for various reasons. One being the notion that it would go against the Olympic spirit, which is used as a reason, but which one exactly? The ancient Greek one where wars made way for the Olympics? Or the new one where wars regrettably are more important than the Olympics? (Granted the cheating is bad but that has never stopped the DDR from participating )

Also, loads of militaries have connections to sports that is not something unique to russia. I think you'll find a rather high percentage of participants of quite a few countries to be military.

Reading that post was interesting to see how skabeeva got leashed in on being too extreme. "Not in favour of erasing London..." I wonder which one is the real opinion.

  19. #29139
In places like russia, sports and the government are so deeply entwined and used for prestige it is hard to seperate them. Even if allowed as 'neutrals', russia will still use it for propaganda purposes. Plus a lot of the athletes are part of military clubs as well.

That's really kinda the case everywhere, isn't it? I mean the US does it, the Netherlands, the britts, pretty much everyone.
