Also, how about we don't automatically turn into CIA bootlickers just because right now the CIA happens to be on the right side of things. Even a broken clock is right twice a day, but that doesn't change the fact that Snowden was a legitimate whistle blower.

    His leaks weren't party affiliated.

Your positions are sometimes really fucking disgusting. Will you bootlick the US government when they herd minorities into death camps and waterboard "Antifa terrorists" under the next GOP administration?
He isn't a whistleblower. Leaking battle plans for any country, including ours, is being a fucking traitor. Plus, his discord he leaked them on, is full of right wing propaganda and racism.

Bethesda appears to have removed russian language support for the upcoming Starfield game. Needs to happen more.

rrooofffllllll that chud leaker is so dumb

But one of the investigators on the case said Teixeira gave himself away through his Steam profile—it led to an Instagram account with photos that the investigation team was able to match to the location the leaked documents were photographed before being uploaded.

    Edward Snowden?

Snowden didn't leak any battle plans of any kind. Are you remotely aware what Snowden leaked? Like at all?

    Please google it.

What happened to the GOP? No, seriously I know they're a bunch of reactionary right wing shit heads but one thing you could count on was them at least being on the same page when it came to russia. (Yes, yes, I know it didn't change yesterday or overnight.)

I've asked it before but I just remain surprised by this behaviour.

they dont think they can win elections in a democracy and refuse to change their platform to attract new votes. They would like a system like Putins Russia (or even Xi's China, Orbans Hungary etc) where elections are a sham and they always maintain control.

Well, I wasn't. My post was specifically saying that there's no comparision between this leak and the Snowden leaks and that people need to be able to draw a distinction and not go either "All leaks good!" or "All leaks evil".

That individual in particular linked to is one of the most extreme representatives the GOP has in US congress, just for the record.

When Republicans become convinced their voter prospects are terrible, they don’t abandon their unhinged views but supporting democracy, which is a very dangerous development for the US.

That, and there’s a good chance MTG is complicit in helping to organise what went down in congress on January 6th 2021.

Are you really surprised? She was the loudest "Trump won, elections were rigged" conspiracy theory supporter since the beginning. This is just one of her normal tweets. And regarding Russia, let's not forget how loud Trump and his MAGAs were applauding when ruskies were hacking gov accounts and meddling with the election. And now the "was is not our problem, Ukraine started it" is their everyday rhetoric. Expect more to come from these fine political specimens, with how much GOP had to appeal to those loons to finally get the Speaker elected.

What happened to GOP? Trump happened. They are now hostages to his unhinged followers and their votes.

Sometimes, the light of the moon is a key to other spaces. I've found a place where, for a night or two, the streets curve in unfamiliar ways. If I walk here, I might find insight, or I might be touched by madness.

Well, I'm not American so sometimes keeping all your politicians straight is a bit of a task, heck I don't even know all MP's from the Netherlands and Finland.

Anyway, that's nice dear, we'll keep a close eye on you though.

I mean has China made such a (strong) statement before? (I'm inclined to half believe they don't want to sell weapons to either side.)

I think this is very much the result of China wanting to defuse some of the tension with the EU.

Especially after the last wave of big EU diplomatic missions and indications from the EU about their willingness to keep doing business with China in most areas the Chinese see an opening for rapprochement.

I don't think Beijing will blink twice about sacrificing the whole of Russia on the Ukraine meat grinder if they get to keep the flow of those sweet sweet billions of euromonies.

They have a lot to lose and very little to gain with giving Russia weapons.

They'll keep buying cheap Russian raw materials, sell all the electronics and whatnot that Russia can't source from anywhere else at a premium price and keep the trade up with the EU. All they have to do is...nothing.

The EU keeps squeezing Russian energy prices with the price controls, but Russia still has to sell its output somewhere, India and China keep buying, but at ever lower rates. There's an even lower price cap coming this summer.

lol wrecked : The 22nd and two other spetsnaz brigades suffered an estimated 90 to 95 percent attrition rate, the assessments say.

They are supposed to be just that.

But considering Russian armed forces turned out to be so much less than their reputation, perhaps it is not too farfetched to assume that their training has for some time not been up to Soviet standards.

Which part of the war gave you an impression, that RuZZia cares about any of it's forces? Regardless of whether they are elite rank disposable, regular disposable or trash tier disposables? Was it Hostomel at the start of the war, or perhaps something else?

    Haha.

But yeah, I think they lost pretty much all of VDV as well. Some of them were airdropped into the Black Sea and drowned because the pilot went "close enough" and greenlit their jump.

A bit more on the loss of the spetsnatz forces - one unit started with 900 men and is down to just 125 active personnel. They are also meant to take at least 4 years to train so they are pretty much out of action for years before they can train replacements.

Maybe Russia doesn't care about their well-being, but they are an asset they no longer have, in a situation where they seem valuable to have. This isn't about mass-producing peasants, giving them a pitchfork, and sending them to the meat grinder within 24 hours. These are the people Russia actually uses to get shit done, even if Putin doesn't attend their kids' birthday parties.
