It is a thing Nazis do like to do.

However; that’s not really the argument. Ukraine definitely has Nazis, they were happy to be all over the news during the original separatist movement and recruited from across Europe. They are a problem, but still, the USA was never going to furnish them with nuclear weapons or technology.

There was little "good will" over any such stance anywhere in the developed world. And I doubt the autocrats whose "good will" he might have garnered over it would give even a single shit about his unprovoked invasion of Ukraine. If anything, they're frantically jotting down notes.

    Shocking stuff, for sure.
Just image searched it and these are guys celebrating an Ukrainian nazi collaborator. However, no mention of them being a significant group that put Zelensky in place....

Where the fuck is Shalcker? I want to hear him talk about how Putin is defending against NATO aggression now. Go on, I dare you.

Forced vacation but it would have been amusing to see for sure.

Ukraine is not filled with nazis. That is propaganda. Much like how the American government created the "asains are good at math" stereotype (go look that one up if you don't know about it).

The sanctions won't do much to deter the invasion, if at all. Long term effects won't be as harsh either with China backing Russia.

The sanctions will be implemented a maximum of 6 months before WWIII is kicked off. Even sooner if Russian forces successfully gain control of Chernobyl (the plant has still been operational despite the melt down in 86).

It'll be NATO/UN vs Russia, China, and probably North Korea.

This will be a very devastating war, for everyone.

I was just listening to an interview on the BBC and they had some guy close to Putin giving out his spiel about how the west was using Ukraine as a puppet state, how their president is not elected and they are Nazi's blah blah blah. He goes on to say how Russia are the great liberators and Putin is henceforth the most honourable man in the world. That was in between all the swearing on a live broadcast.

Their follow up was some American guy who objected to the BBC allowing such a man a platform. I though it was enlightening to see how this is being sold to Russians and obviously no one is dumb enough to buy into such a detached, obnoxious and dangerous shitspiel, no one is going to bug into that narrative so why worry.

Then, I came into this thread.
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.

/r/askarussian is literally fulll of Russians going "Ok, so few days ago I said I never thought this would happen... I was wrong." apologetic posts. I mean, I give them respect for admitting they were wrong.

Dumb as a brick to believe those transparent lies, but at least they're not too proud to admit a mistake. We'll see if there's enough to, oh wait... you can't do anything in Russia, cos if you just hold up a sign "Stop the war" your next stop is a fucking Gulag. How nice, authoritarian regimes are so creative...

Many people in Africa, South America, East and SE Europe, the Arab peninsula and even in the West are sympathizers of Putin's because of Russia's role in the past 20 years. The developed world wasn't the primary target for the past decade at least, but it ended up being a lucrative secondary audience that he's taken advantage of. These areas are their primary targets of investment and exploitation, somethin that China is picking up pace in too. I'm well aware of all of Russia's transgresions against my own country, but many have been warming up to Russia. I'm glad they're waking up.

Yeah, I'm just like . . . I don't read Russian (or any Cyrillic, if it's not Russian specifically), so I can't read the poster and can't be arsed trying to figure out how to Google it, so all I've got to go by is "big crowd in streets marching with torches".

I'm clearly not gonna be supportive of any actual Nazi shit, but there's basically zero evidence the current leadership of Ukraine has any such connections.

Again; a lot of autocrats or those who want to become autocrats, sure.

    Not free-thinking Democratic nations.

It's hardly surprising when someone has autocratic leanings that they see the actions of another autocrat and support them.

There's nothing happy about the past two days. Not for Ukrainians. Not for Russians. Not for anyone. Germany's now in the process of reevaluating our pacifist stance, too. Our leftish-liberal fucking Green foreign minister is now going "Huh, I'm mad that our military is so messed up".

She's from a hardcore pacifist party.

On the bright side, those NATO 2% probably won't be an issue anymore...

I know, but that's the sad reality of things. The result of this invasion will end up reverberating across all of Europe and it'll start giving birth to extremist counterreactionary movements that will thrive on the premise of foreign aggression coming from the East.

Won't be too sure that China will back up Russia completely unless they're going to invade Taiwan. The entire world except for Belarus and maybe North Korea are condemning Russia for this attack. And those countries are a waaaaaaaaaay bigger market then Russia ever will be.

Apparently Russian troops are just north of Kiev now. This isn't a local thing, Ukraine will be gone by the end of the week. Time to buy new maps, folks.

    There's a core problem with pacifism, as an ideological principle; it has only two possible stability states;

1> Everyone's a pacifist, forever, and can't choose otherwise. This is obviously just fantastical nonsense.
2> You fundamentally and regularly rely on others to apply force or the threat of force in your name and on your behalf, making your claims of "pacifism" ring hollow. You're just not getting your own hands bloody.

The first isn't a valid stance, if stability is an expectation you hold. It's waiting for literally anyone to come in and subjugate you and your interests, because you've decided resisting their use of violence is not acceptable to you. Worse; your pacifism then becomes selfish, as you're protecting only how clean your own hands are, not the degree of violence in the world.

I can accept pacifism as a position from people like Jainists, who have no expectations of stability whatsoever, because at least they're honest about this. Most of the rest claiming to be "pacifists" are just selfish cowards who want to keep their own hands clean while letting others engage in violence in their names.

China has already stated it will support Russia economically, specifically with Russian wheat imports. This was after the invasion

There is a small hermit state on the north side of a peninsula in Asia. They will get a very large hermit neighbor soon.
