It is possible it happened out of sheer incompetence too, but its very unlikely it weren't by intention with explosives with the context of everything surrounding it and just when they started filling the reservoir up more than normal.

As the water recedes in the coming days back to something resembling the river's normal flow as the former reservoir empties of excess water, it will leave the ground in flooded regions full of staggering amounts of mud for weeks to months to come, right as Russia has a pressing need to be able to shift more of their forces further east.

Another side effect of that is that the river is also in the process of flushing a whole bunch of Russian mines with it, to cause further damage to civilians and rescue efforts with it after the fact by the terrorists that they are.

I just want to say that for a while now, people have been derogatorily calling Russians "Vatniks" among other colorful things. And it seems the Kremlin has caught on, deeming "vatnik" specifically as a "racial slur" (therefore punishable). I don't know if that will hold up for the rest of the world, though, when leftists still say we shouldn't be bigoted toward Russia as a whole in spite of everything.

Bit slow, isn't he? That term has been around for like a decade at this point, and was in somewhat common use before the 3-day special operation began last February.

My brother in christ, what leftist says we shouldn't be bigoted towards Russia when it comes to calling them names?

The only ones with their panties in a twist about vatniks are pro-Russia right wing shills.

Man, "vatnik" has been around for like a decade. Can't wait till they hear about the word that was popularized when the vatniks began using "Z" to mark their vehicles when they started the large scale invasion.

Hint: it starts with a "Z" and rhymes with a measuring instrument used by bartenders to measure out 1.5 US fluid ounces of liqour.

Using "leftists are saying". Example of bandwagon fallacy, also known as an appeal to popularity.

Vatnik or vatnyk (Russian: ватник) is a political pejorative used in Russia and other post-Soviet states for steadfast jingoistic followers of propaganda from the Russian Government.

You're always carrying water for Putin like a little broken dam. We could call you Kakhovkayush if that helps.

I will admit people referring to Russians "orcs" does bring to mind the WW2 American propaganda depicting Japanese as rats and that's not great.

Well seeing that Russia is not a monoculture or a race, I don't see how comparing an actual racial slur to calling someone a vatnik is as bad.

On something a bit more relevant than Yuppie trying to derail the thread with what the Kremlin thinks of the term Vatnik, data from seismic stations early in the morning of this past Tuesday correlating with when the dam breached shows signals of an explosion having taken place at that time, translation through DeepL

NORSAR has analyzed seismic signals from regional stations in connection with the collapse of the dam in Ukraine on Tuesday night.

Data from regional seismic stations show clear signals on Tuesday, June 6 at 2:54 am local time. The time and place coincide with media reports of the collapse of the Kakhovka dam. The signals indicate an explosion.

If there is one thing I have learned from social media recently, is that there are more Russian trolls pretending to be westerners than claiming to be Russian.

They're not being called orcs because they're being racially profiled based on their appearance.

They're being called orcs because they're acting like dumb, savage barbarians.

Furthermore, I would call the systemic racism faced by the Japanese in the US, immigrants and US citizens alike, during World War 2 to far exceed any such racism Russians are facing currently, especially considering no "Russian internment camps" have been raised up in the deserts of the southwestern US. And I'd wager that the vast majority of harassment any Russians abroad are currently facing stems from a professed support for Putin and the current state of Russian leadership, rather than simply because they are Russian.

    Apples and oranges.

Russia is executing Ukrainians that attempt to help others from the flooding of the dam terrorism.

Russian forces are shooting at Ukrainian rescuers attempting to reach those trapped in flood-struck areas of occupied Kherson after the destruction of the Nova Kakhovka dam, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an exclusive interview.

“As soon as our helpers try to rescue them, they are shot at,” Zelenskyy said, referring to efforts to reach residents of towns on the Russian-occupied bank of the Dnipro River, which has been inundated with floodwater after blasts partially destroyed the dam on Tuesday. The floodwaters threaten 80 settlements on both the Ukrainian-held and Russian-occupied sides of the river, according to Kyiv.

Its a Tolkien reference, as russia is the black land of Mordor, which sends forth barbaric hordes to destroy. Its pretty apt.

Amusingly, some of the orcs from Lord of the Rings asked not to be associated with russia as even they wouldn't stoop as low as russian soldiers do.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainians seem to be making some serious progress in a number of places, up to 5 to 10 kilometers deep in places, and this is just from probing attacks. The main assault brigades with the western gear are yet to be put into action.

Is reporting a 2% YoY shrinkage in their economy for the first quarter "booming" under any definition?
Im talking about NOW not in the past. I said NOW. do you ever read posts?

    Russia 2022: -2.2%
Russia 2023: Booms to +0.7% overall but were halfway thru the year.
Russia 2024: Booms to +2.1% which is a higher projection than the US.

So by 2024, Russia has a stronger economy than the US
