Is reporting a 2% YoY shrinkage in their economy for the first quarter "booming" under any definition?
Im talking about NOW not in the past. I said NOW. do you ever read posts?

    Russia 2022: -2.2%
Russia 2023: Booms to +0.7% overall but were halfway thru the year.
Russia 2024: Booms to +2.1% which is a higher projection than the US.

So by 2024, Russia has a stronger economy than the US

Year of year GDP growth is not the same as having a stronger economy, China had double digit growth versus the US meager single digit for years no one thought China's economy in the developing years was stronger than the US. Russia's growth has more to do with the facts that they have such tight controls now and GDP growth under 5% is for mature economies. Russia all things considered should be experiencing higher growth than the US, the fact that it hasn't all these years speaks to the greed and corruption of its leaders.

This is some Brexiteer level dishonestly in interpreting these numbers, just so you're aware. The very first comment in reply to this article explains why:

Year over year increases don't mean much by themselves when the base value of something has been reduced to the point of being nearly worthless.
So no, even the IMF's in no way certain prediction doesn't mean "Russia has a stronger economy than the US in 2024".

If you're talking about NOW then why are you posting about the FUTURE and not NOW, like how right NOW the Russian economy is down 2% from where it was at the same time last year.

Lets not forget russia has outright banned the publication of a lot of crucial economic data so any predictions are guesses at best.

The week before the terrorist attack on the dam russian government ordered any terror or military actions in the occupied territories to NOT be investigated, where it says the following at the bottom:

"10. Until January 1, 2028, a technical investigation of accidents at hazardous production facilities and accidents of hydraulic structures that occurred as a result of hostilities, sabotage and terrorist acts is not carried out."

Here's the law from the russian government website itself: http://publication.pravo.gov.ru/docu...01202305310067
    Here's a text transcription: https://www.garant.ru/products/ipo/prime/doc/406865902/
And a translation of it: https://www-garant-ru.translate.goog..._x_tr_pto=wapp

Basically an admission of guilt. Hell, one could call it a declaration of guilt.

The Nova Kharkova dam isn't the only one to have been destroyed, it was just the largest and most damaging. A couple of smaller ones have also reportedly been destroyed in the last couple of weeks. One dam you could possibly pass off as structural failing, but not multiple ones.

I feel like Russia's goal is not conquest anymore, but just destroying everything they can.

They might also still be under the delusion that bombing enough shit will break Ukraine's spirit and get them to surrender.

Though the Dam thing was likely just Russia looking for an immediate, short-sighted means to stall the Ukrainian advance because their defensive lines are woefully unprepared and this allows them to consolidate their forces in the places where they can actually cross safely. Drowning their own troops and cutting clean Crimea off from clean water are just side-effects.

You figured that out all by yourself? Gold Star!

Nah, I'm sure they'd still like to conquer but seeing as they are failing they'll settle for destruction.

I would be even more afraid if a genocidal army changed goalposts from horrifically evil but pragmatic conquest of territories to all-out Locust Horde-like annihilation of everything. Which is what the Russians are evidently doing realizing that gaining ground is not working out like with Bahmkut, a short-lived victory.

They're being called orcs because they're acting like dumb, savage barbarians.

Furthermore, I would call the systemic racism faced by the Japanese in the US, immigrants and US citizens alike, during World War 2 to far exceed any such racism Russians are facing currently, especially considering no "Russian internment camps" have been raised up in the deserts of the southwestern US. And I'd wager that the vast majority of harassment any Russians abroad are currently facing stems from a professed support for Putin and the current state of Russian leadership, rather than simply because they are Russian.

    Apples and oranges.
Calling someone a vatnik is the equivalent of calling someone a MAGAtard or libtard.

Nothing besides the direction of Russian troop movement has changed.

Which is why it's woefully inadequate.

    Orc = insulting to orcs
    Vatnik = inadequate

NATO may send troops to Ukraine if dissatisfied with US security guarantees.

A group of NATO countries may be willing to put troops on the ground in Ukraine if member states including the US do not provide tangible security guarantees to Kyiv at the alliance’s summit in Vilnius, the former NATO secretary general Anders Rasmussen has said.

Rasmussen, who has been acting as official adviser to the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, on Ukraine’s place in a future European security architecture, has been touring Europe and Washington to gauge the shifting mood before the critical summit starts on 11 July.

He also warned that even if a group of states did provide Ukraine with security guarantees, others would not allow the issue of Ukraine’s future NATO membership to be kept off the agenda at Vilnius.

He made his remarks as the current Nato chief, Jens Stoltenberg, said the issue of security guarantees would be on the agenda at Vilnius, but added that Nato – under article 5 of the Washington treaty – only provided full-fledged security guarantees to full members.

The US ambassador to Nato, Julianne Smith, said: “We are looking at an array of options to signal that Ukraine is advancing in its relationship with NATO.”

That's WW3 right there. My guess is that the US will try to cool the hot heads and avoid such catastrophe.

That's not gonna happen until Putin does something really stupid, like using nukes.

If RuZZia wants to cease to exist as terrorist nation, rather than just getting the hell out of Ukraine, then sure. My guess is that they don't want to cease to exist. That they'll choose keeping the wasteland they have.

I want it to happen so this is over already. All of it. It's pretty clear the Kakhovka was the tipping point for NATO's rage. They don't want something of this disaster in particular happening again, and that's understandable.
