“There you stand, the good man doing nothing. And while evil triumphs, and your rigid pacifism crumbles to blood stained dust, the only victory afforded to you is that you stuck true to your guns.”
It's either NATO keeps doing nothing and innocents and animals keep dying horrible deaths while Russia mocks its supposed powerlessness
...or NATO intervenes, annihilates the Russian invaders, then challenges Putin's pathetic bluff
I prefer the second, sorry.
As we all know from previous experience, discussion of nuclear destruction is a distraction that tends to throw the discussion off. Please stick to events and realistic speculations.
Truth be told, I'm a bit baffled that the current signs point towards Ukraine trying to push towards Luhanks and Donetsk. I would have imagined their next step was to cut the land bridge to Crimea.
Hard disagree. There should be an international coalition formed to push Russia out of Ukraine. I believe in Russian red lines at this point as much as I believe Putin telling the people they are winning. Every single thing that bowing down to their many-times crossed red lines have only caused one thing; More Ukrainian suffering over prolonging the war in fear of some never-coming retaliation. Russia has no means to respond to a coalition force working inside Ukraine. Hell, that force doesn't even have to partake in battles but protect key areas and borders to free Ukrainian troops to do the fighting. Time to fear Russia is over.
They would have only one response and they are not going to do it.

If you read the Guardian article posted earlier, it was about NATO MEMBER COUNTRIES sending troops, individually, not official NATO troops.
In the article's case, Poland would happily form a new coalition to ensure Ukraine's sovereignty - probably after this war ends, not during it, in my opinion.

Yeah...kinda hard to sell war to your own people when they are not directly affected.
Spending public money to assist Ukraine is one thing, sending soldiers to die is a whole different thing and it won't be seen favorably by the voters. Once those body bags start arriving, and the mothers and wives start appearing crying on TV, the percentages of the current party in power will drop like a rock in a pond.
I mean Bush Jr. had to demolish two tall towers with people still inside them in order to motivate people to support his aggressive oil drilling in another country.
