Anchors on state-controlled television stations cast the deal ending the crisis as a show of President Vladimir Putin’s wisdom and aired footage of the Wagner Group’s troops retreating from Rostov-on-Don in southern Russia. People in Rostov-on-Don who were interviewed by Channel 1 television hailed Putin for defusing the crisis.

Our great and glorious leader yet again showed everyone how it's done. The great satan of United States is in panic seeing such leadership manifest.

It's stage 19 of our great plan, he knew too much. Everything is going according to the plan.

If only Biden had to make concessions to stop Blackwater from seizing Washington DC after they helped him secure Timmins, Ontario during his three-day conquest of Canada which has been ongoing for a year and a half. Then and only then may we consider him as cool and wise as Putin.

Is that the one with Kevin Spacey?

On topic: Putin has not spoken publicly since, which doesn't strike me as super odd he's not typically kissing hands or shaking babies, but will be going to a Russia Security Council meeting and has been very chatty with Lukashenko behind closed doors.

Yeah, I get what Wagner Group gets out of this (an exit from Ukraine and redeployment to the relative safety of Africa), but I don't get what's in it for Prigozhin, unless he thinks he can outlast Putin's regime while hiding in Belarus.

Maybe he believes he can get out of dodge and just leave the entire mess behind to count his money in Africa, even if I wouldn't bet on it myself.

This act of revolt was just a bad idea for him TBH. Half-measures don't cut it in the game of Czars, you win or you die. He chickened out and I doubt it'll end well for him, I doubt he survives the year but hey I've been wrong before.

The Russian MoD was trying to kill him and absorb Wagner into the Russian army. He didn't really have choice.

Either way, that's him out of the war for good, probably. And without him any Wagner that redeploys in Ukraine (not convinced they're all going to Africa) will be chewed up and spit out on the front lines in Ukraine. I get the feeling that asshole was one of the few things that kept any semblance of order and discipline among those mercs. Seems like it's a win for Ukraine in any case.

There is speculation that Wagner stole nukes.

Think they'll take their prison conscripts who are still under short term contract-for-freedom with them?
Or while they were near Moscow did they just turn loose the bastard who kidnaps/eats/murders/rapes children? Probably in that order.
And his very spirited friends from prison.

I think Russia would be acting a LOT different in that case.
Unless Russia knows the warhead is defective/unusable due to lack of maintenance.

I agree, that *might* be the thing to:

a: stop the war, effective immediately, to deal with that crisis and
b: Get word out to the other nuclear armed nations as well as the rest world because they do NOT want to be blamed for a nuclear terrorist attack.

I think we are getting too high on adrenaline right now. This weekend was full of unthinkable, but c'mon.

Sometimes, the light of the moon is a key to other spaces. I've found a place where, for a night or two, the streets curve in unfamiliar ways. If I walk here, I might find insight, or I might be touched by madness.

I call BS but just the theory of a Mercenary leader going rogue and stealing nukes is basically the plot of a MGS game.
C'mon, the Outer Heaven Logo even is damn similiar to that of Wagner (not that skulls is a creative motif for a Mercenary group).

There was a nuclear weapons facility near Rostov and at the time it was reported Wagner troops were moving on it and reportedly NATO was concerned about it, but if anything had happened there would be a response.

Even if they did have them, there wouldn't be much they could do with them anyway.
