Russia is currently going through a systematic purge of its military personnel following Prigozhin's assault.
Numerous generals and key figures have been reported to be detained or "missing." Terrifying stuff.
It's shocking because it's understandably difficult to believe a country has murder so normalized
But for context on the purge
un·per·son
noun
a person whose name or existence is denied or ignored, especially because of a political misdemeanor.
Traitors and other such undesirables in the Roman Empire were known to be given this treatment. The Other Wiki's article on it shows Roman murals that have had unwanted people's faces chiseled out of them.
Surely Prigozhin would have known Russia would do something like this. They should have just taken out putin.
Prigozhin not taking over Russia is still currently one of the biggest circulating mysteries. Even if he could not have killed Putin since he fled the country, the seat was there for Prig to take. With his conspirators in the military, he could have established a stranglehold that'd ensure Putin would never return.
And yet the moderators here insinuate that the idea Prigozhin being in collaboration with Putin is a conspiracy theory/farce. But there's little reason otherwise for Prigozhin to not take power.

The thing is, no one has given a proper answer anywhere as to why he didn't take over Russia. He had a good powerbase in the military that aligned with him.
Nope, the military did no such thing. They sat it out. And he just didn't have enough men to take over.
People like the CIA director say it was a real mutiny so maybe you could explain to him why he was wrong.
That's exactly it. The Russian military collaborators with Prigozhin just mostly sat it out and let him through.
