Uh, nobody believes that Putin is doing this for anyone's "good" except his own.

He doesn't care about "neo-nazis" or eastern ukranian lives (the people he's currently attacking) or western Ukranian lives or Russian lives or whatever other nonsense. He cares about two things:

1) Ukranian resources to prop up the frailty of the current Russian economic and military state

2) Placing a stopping block between NATO countries and Russia.

Actually, maybe 3) as well: recreating the USSR.

Haven't you noticed, that having EU gas transit pipe in their hands allowed nazis to blackmail whole EU and Russia for 8 years? And I don't think it's fair, that when Russia allowed EU to get rid of this blackmailing via investing ton of money into NS2, instead of getting thx from EU, they only got new and even harder ways of blackmailing. This should make you thinking. May be at the end USA didn't want EU to get rid of blackmailing and blackmailing Russia was their real intention? And I just ask to imagine, what would happen, if instead of just transit gas pipe in their hands, nazis would have missiles, including nuclear ones. Don't you think, that it's a little bit too much to allow USA to do such experiments with whole EU, while they sit in safety on the other side of globe?

I've shown nazis' photos many times already. There are lots of photos and videos in internet, that are made by themselves, because they don't even try to hide it. Denying this simple truth - is one of that "made up facts" thing.

I mean I'm sure there are Russians who genuinely want to believe they aren't being the unfettered aggressors here that they actually are, and there are of course the turnip farmers who are paid or otherwise have a vested interest in spreading this shit, but outside of dumbasses like Trump it's really a losing narrative in the US. And even then I don't think his messaging is getting very far in the US itself. Most of the other republicans seem to have broken rank with him on this one and are indeed calling it an attack. Even tools like Cruz and co. have come out voicing support for Ukraine.

It's worth remembering that, for the most part, most conservatives require very simplistic narratives to be able to understand them. Outside of the few and far between Qanon people, "Hillary caused benghazi" is about as complex as they'll generally understand. "Russia feared that Ukranian Neo-nazi seperatists might gain ground in the Ukranian government and threaten Russia with Nukes they'd acquire so that Putin had to preemptively invade," concepts they've likely never even heard of before, is far, far, FAR too complex a narrative for most of them.

The "Russia invaded Ukraine because they're malignant and power hungry" is far more simple.

Of course it was very hard for them to avoid temptation of reselling this gas to EU for higher prices. But then they needed some extra gas for themselves, that was simply stolen from Russia.

That is true, and we don't have big means of force projection, since the Bundeswehr is a defensive army only. "great" is highly subjective and it has been fit for the low probability of war in central europe. This will change under the new circumstances, that's for sure. But "barely any military" is just not true. It's just incorporated into the bigger picture of NATO, not for a strategy of conquering the whole world alone.

I can’t help but feel the eurozone got caught with its pants down militarily speaking. Maintaining force projection capability is not for conquering the world per se but about deterrence mostly against aggressors such as Russia has proved to be.

But this is fact. They is the biggest problem with USA - denying facts. Do you understand, that this gas was stolen not only from Russia, but from EU consumers, that were feeling lack of gas supplies on their side? Ukraine separated and became independent EU country. Why should it had to continue getting gas for special prices? Doesn't it sound strange, that instead of saying thx to Russia for getting rid of law breaking and resource stealing country, whole world supported Ukraine instead? Is it ok to steal?
