If the bar for WW3 starting was any occurrence of something straying over a border we wouldn't have even made it through the 1950's. It's worth investigating and keeping an eye on in case it becomes a more regular thing, but as of now it doesn't sound like it's a problem. Whether it was really unintended or not is a different story, but it's a good thing that the global powers keep them in perspective and don't overreact when it comes to these incidents. There are repercussions, but that will be handled diplomatically and proportional to the event.

damn everytime i go on site for 20 odd days at work with no internet prig does something cool. First time a coup attempt and 2nd time he gets killed.

As expected, the respite for the ruble after the massive interest rate rises was short lived. It had hit 102 rubles to the dollar before they hiked the rates from 8.5% to 12% (an increase of more than 40%), dropping down to 92. Three weeks later and it is back up to 98.5 and at current trends it'll be back to 100 in a week. That's despite pouring huge amounts of forex to try and prop it up.

I do recall reading some recent thread or article about how apparently a bunch of Cubans are being duped into going to Russia and send to fight, I guess it was legit. Nice of them to arrest them, though.Cuban authorities have arrested 17 people in connection with what they described as a network to recruit Cuban nationals to fight for Russia in Ukraine.
The head of criminal investigations for Cuba’s Interior Ministry, César Rodríguez, said late Thursday on state media that at least three of the 17 arrested are part of recruitment efforts inside the island country.
He did not identify the alleged members of the network but said they had previous criminal records. Some families started speaking up about the case on Friday, and at least one mother said that her son was promised a job in construction in Russia.
Cuba’s Foreign Ministry said on Monday that the government had detected a network operating from Russia to recruit Cuban citizens living both in Russia and in Cuba to fight in Ukraine. It said authorities were working “to neutralize and dismantle” the network but gave no details.
“Cuba is not part of the war in Ukraine,” the Foreign Ministry said in a news release.
It's nice sure, but it illustrates nowhere is really safe and that's worrying. Putin can just straight up traffick you if you're low profile, regardless of where you are ("Cuba is not part of the war").
Human trafficking. That's what this basically is. Just one day you get kidnapped and put into a warzone.

US likely to send long-range ATACMS missiles to Ukraine for the first time: Officials
About time. Guess Russia's continued provocations of blowing up innocent people is not paying off.The Biden administration is likely to send Ukraine long-range Army Tactical Missile Systems, or ATACMS, to help in its fight to repel the Russian invasion of its territory, according to U.S. officials.
"They are coming," said one official who had access to security assistance plans. The official noted that, as always, such plans are subject to change until officially announced.
A second official said the missiles are "on the table" and likely to be included in an upcoming security assistance package, adding that a final decision has not been made. It could be months before Ukraine receives the missiles, according to the official.
With a range of up to 190 miles, depending on the version, deploying ATACMS could allow Ukraine to reach targets nearly four times further away than with the currently-provided rockets for its U.S.-made High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems and M270 multiple-launch rocket systems.
