I mean of course NATO would say that? We did just discuss how they'll find any excuse to avoid conflict, so what did you expect them to say

If the bar for WW3 starting was any occurrence of something straying over a border we wouldn't have even made it through the 1950's. It's worth investigating and keeping an eye on in case it becomes a more regular thing, but as of now it doesn't sound like it's a problem. Whether it was really unintended or not is a different story, but it's a good thing that the global powers keep them in perspective and don't overreact when it comes to these incidents. There are repercussions, but that will be handled diplomatically and proportional to the event.

An accidental crash warrants a world war-like response in your opinion?

    This is honestly hilarious.

The man who tried to pretend the Twitter Files showed a company bowing to government pressure then ACTUALLY bows to a foreign government's pressure.

    Beyond parody.

Any excuse to play out his fantasy of seeing more people dying on a daily basis.

I mean he's made it no secret that he wishes for WW3 so he can die a "Meaningful" death and take the rest of us down with him. It is why he gets upset when Ukraine fights back, because Ukraine fighting back and winning would mean NATO doesn't come in.

Yup, exactly, as long as they don't push too hard NATO won't do anything if a drone strays. As much as we want NATO to respond harder a single drone and a missile incident in 18 months is just not worth it.

As expected, the respite for the ruble after the massive interest rate rises was short lived. It had hit 102 rubles to the dollar before they hiked the rates from 8.5% to 12% (an increase of more than 40%), dropping down to 92. Three weeks later and it is back up to 98.5 and at current trends it'll be back to 100 in a week. That's despite pouring huge amounts of forex to try and prop it up.

Cuban authorities have arrested 17 people in connection with what they described as a network to recruit Cuban nationals to fight for Russia in Ukraine.

The head of criminal investigations for Cuba’s Interior Ministry, César Rodríguez, said late Thursday on state media that at least three of the 17 arrested are part of recruitment efforts inside the island country.

He did not identify the alleged members of the network but said they had previous criminal records. Some families started speaking up about the case on Friday, and at least one mother said that her son was promised a job in construction in Russia.

Cuba’s Foreign Ministry said on Monday that the government had detected a network operating from Russia to recruit Cuban citizens living both in Russia and in Cuba to fight in Ukraine. It said authorities were working “to neutralize and dismantle” the network but gave no details.

“Cuba is not part of the war in Ukraine,” the Foreign Ministry said in a news release.
I do recall reading some recent thread or article about how apparently a bunch of Cubans are being duped into going to Russia and send to fight, I guess it was legit. Nice of them to arrest them, though.

It's nice sure, but it illustrates nowhere is really safe and that's worrying. Putin can just straight up traffick you if you're low profile, regardless of where you are ("Cuba is not part of the war").

Human trafficking. That's what this basically is. Just one day you get kidnapped and put into a warzone.

Story was they were offered high paying construction jobs in Mariupol but when they arrived they had their passports taken away, were given documents in russian to sign with no translation and found themselves dumped on the front line as meat fodder.

I’m not sure how buddy-buddy Russia and Cuba are these days. But this sounds like a good way to piss off yet another country for what I can also imagine was a very small number of recruits who in all likelihood have no military training and don’t even speak Russian.

Cuba is small and has hostile relations with the West. They can't do anything to Russia even if pissed.

US likely to send long-range ATACMS missiles to Ukraine for the first time: Officials
The Biden administration is likely to send Ukraine long-range Army Tactical Missile Systems, or ATACMS, to help in its fight to repel the Russian invasion of its territory, according to U.S. officials.

"They are coming," said one official who had access to security assistance plans. The official noted that, as always, such plans are subject to change until officially announced.

A second official said the missiles are "on the table" and likely to be included in an upcoming security assistance package, adding that a final decision has not been made. It could be months before Ukraine receives the missiles, according to the official.

With a range of up to 190 miles, depending on the version, deploying ATACMS could allow Ukraine to reach targets nearly four times further away than with the currently-provided rockets for its U.S.-made High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems and M270 multiple-launch rocket systems.
About time. Guess Russia's continued provocations of blowing up innocent people is not paying off.
