Call me a cynic, but I don't think "NATO barging in to secure the nuclear weapons" is a realistic approach to the problem at hand in the event of a Russian breakup. Likely, it would be various military commanders rising to power in the different regions, and they would know where their weapons are located, and how to launch them. We'd just go back to the nuclear stalemate of "fuck off or I blow your city centers up".

Some of those warlords might be favorable towards west, with only few of them Putlerists. A much preferable outcome to the current massive terrorist state. Also, the nuclear threat isn't that bad from couple warlords who might control minor arsenals. Pre-emptive strikes would be back on the table for possible solution to that.

I'd take it any day over the current one.

You're assuming that their only option is to use the existing nuclear infrastructure in exactly the way it was meant to be used. Don't need a code to physically break open the silo and remount the warhead on something smaller and less Cold War-era.

Yeah...about that, that's not very likely to work very well. Nuclear weapons are still rather precise weapons you can't just pry one open and place the warhead into something else.

Less so than you might think, to be honest, and I have to imagine that the workings of half century-old Soviet nuclear bomb can be readily obtained if one knows where to look. And either way, there's still a lot of bad shit one could do with a nuclear warhead that aren't "use the existing systems to launch the existing missile as-is," going all the way down the scale of complexity to simply removing the fissible material to make a dirty bomb.

German outlet BILD stated on December 14 that unspecified intelligence findings and sources indicate that Russia plans to occupy Ukrainian territory beyond the four (illegally) annexed Ukrainian oblasts throughout 2024-2026. BILD stated that Russia plans to capture the entirety of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts and up to the Oskil River in Kharkiv Oblast by the end of 2024.

Well...not entirely as not fighting NATO is actually a good idea, and the reasons he gives are actually true (except maybe interest so he can put up big boy britches, but even then it's not in russia's best interest). The fact that he lied about Ukraine and his bogus reasons notwithstanding.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think you might get to join the Reservist Union. If you are really interested in it, you can then join the courses taught by Maanpuollustus Korkeakoulu (MPKK). It is possible for people who have never served to get a "wartime" placement through that system.
