(Obviously, now that we had a contact, I know you exist and cared enough to respond hehe)
And I already know what I need to know, I did my research. It takes a few seconds for account deletion, if you request. No harm done.
Still, you felt like you should post it. Why?...
I guess because you just felt like you should, right? You felt like you should express yourself here. And that's the beauty and probably the main purpose of forums like this, right?
So, if you wonder why people say what they say when they are leaving, I think the answer is in your own post: they feel like they should, just like you felt you should. It might be a public protest, a public criticism. Like the public criticism you just did here.

Now I'll take a part of your post to focus on another aspect here: How do you know I can "trust in my willpower"? What if I can't? How can you be so sure about something you have no idea? You have no idea what's on the other side of the screen, right? Usually, we all have no idea. So, why presume? Why do people presume so much? Some weird presumptions.
And I think I understood what you were trying to say. But I'm taking it as an illustrative example. I think these (perhaps excessive) presumptions are what have been degenerating the experience in spaces like this.
Think about Twitter.
In Twitter, it works like this: You say "I don't like water". Someone will respond "oh, so you don't like beaches? But don't you care about turtles?", and then it goes "and the dolphins? I just can't believe you want the dolphins to suffer", "What a horrible person", <some name calling>, "that person is defending the genocide of humans, dolphins and turtles, because they all need water to live", "I saw him killing a dolphin in high school", ...
You get the idea. Maybe some commercial reason is pushing towards that, more clicks, more money. Maybe not. But it can get tiring to have discussions in places like this. It's often not worth it.
Just look at what followed your post. No one questioned, focused, or tried to understand a single word I wrote. But it seems there is already an entire Netflix season going on there.
Maybe I'm getting old. Maybe social media will evolve into some sort of art of Divination. No more talking, we just use our crystal balls. Anyways, if you want to keep talking, we can go to another place while this thing is still active.
