I believe there was a Gerasimov killed very early on in the war, a relative of some type, but this didn't happen
Initial rumour came from very low trustworthy sources and has pretty much been ignored.

In any case, russia is silent and Ukraine doesn't believe they got him so it's unlikely Gerasimov is doing his part for the sunflower farms in Ukraine.

Contrarian to...? In Sweden, this is the main view among leftists and has been for the past century. So it can't be just a contrarian view.

Much of the Swedish left still echo actual Soviet propaganda points, things they themselves didn't even believe. It's more of an identity than contrarianism.

You mean Valery Gerasimov' nephew Vitaly Gerasimov? (yes, corruption runs deep) It seems Vitaly wasn't killed either at that time - but resurfaced 2 months later.

One possibile reason is that Valery Gerasimov was wounded.

However, another more direct reason is that Russia isn't so concerned with anyone (him included) being dead or not, but more concerned with the 'death of truth' - so by neither confirming nor denying his death they are creating the uncertainty where nothing is true and everything is possible.

That identity is built on contrarianism.

Just the other day, a certain russian oppositional politician by the name Vladimir Milov put the blame on the dead citizens of Belgorod, stating that they are responsible and guilty of choosing Putin.

That is all you need to know about russian opposition.

French Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that okraine killing peaceful citizns of Belgorod is not an act of terrorism, but a country's right to defend itself.

That is all you need to know about french politics.

No person in this thread has condemned okraine for killing Belogorod citizens.

That is all you need to know about this thread.

The amount of western war reporters who visited Crimea or Donbass to find out the truth, to talk to people living there is zero.

That is all you need to know about western "values."

NBC recently visited Crimea. Pro-Russian sentiment is relatively strong there but it was also strong in Mariupol. What happened to Mariupol again? Oh right, Russia levelled the place. Why aren't you condemning that?

If Belgorod citizens were killed by Ukraine (not Okraine) that is bad. However, the number of Ukrainian civilians killed by Russian forces is many, many times larger than that. I don't see you condemning that either.

I guess your values kinda suck.

Local Belgorod officials admitted the deaths were due to debris from their own air defence systems. It was russia killing its own citizens again.

    Turn about is fair play.
Surprised it took them so long, honestly, they've aleays had the ability to strike there.
Also who cares what random Krasi or Ivan in Crimea think or say, it was still legal Ukrainian sorveign land. This isn't the middle ages.

Exactly, Ukraine was not targeting civilians, they were going after military targets and sadly the debris killed civilians. Before one of the Russian sympathizers replies to me, Russia is not afforded this same luxury as they are an invading force so when they target a military structure and interceptors rain debris onto Ukraine citizens it is wrong from the get go.

Reminder that Russia has been bombing civilian targets in Kyiv for almost 3 years, though I'm sure you know this and don't care and that's totally different because that's an act of aggression actually.

We're closing in on the second anniversary of the start of the invasion, saying almost 3 years is a bit of a stretch. Let's remain factual, shall we?

Would "bombing civilian targets in eastern Ukraine for 7 years" be better?

If I remember right, he insists it's the proper Russian spelling of Ukraine. That he insists upon it (and is the only person insisting upon it) speaks volumes about him.

He wants to write "oinkraine" but abbreviates it hoping not to get infracted for nation bashing.

It's an attempt at a comeback for the Russian soldiers being called orcs. It's just the cutest thing.

So now that eggs are valued higher than stack of rubles in Russia and not affordable by state to pay you, how does Putin arrange the necessary transactions? In potatoes?
