Yeah, the "talks" are probably to save face on the homefront, both in regards to having to invade a country of similar blood and culture (which is never very popular) and as a pre-emptive defense to justify the, apparently, higher than expected casualties. "Oh, I tried to end it, but these pesky Ukrainians just didn't like being invaded for some reason!".
I don't expect him to just back off unless Ukraine surrenders, which seems extremely unlikely. In for a penny, in for a pound, he'd be foolish to retreat with his tail between his legs as it would mean he lost international status AND appears weak which he desperately doesn't want to.

The internet: where to every action is opposed an unequal overreaction.
True, but I am just going off of Russia's own mantra to escalate to de-escalate.
I think ideally they wished the threat of invasion would of been enough. Just as I am sure they hope their incursion so far has been enough. If the talks fail, I don't see them conceding an inch. They are obsessed with keeping up their own delusions and will never admit to failure in Ukraine.
Are these numbers....real? If so...Jesus Christ. And I'm now reading that the Russian military is facing unexpected difficulties in the Ukrainian capital.

It seems very sketchy for him to advocate for negociations one day after the attack started. The attack has been planned and prepared for months and Russia used considerable forces and measures. Did Putin expect to take the whole country in a couple of hours?
I would say the numbers are exaggerated. However the russian blitzkrieg failed. Hence the proposal of talks by the russians. The russians underestimated Ukrainian defense. In the long run the russians might win but the longer it takes the more they lose face.
putin overplayed his hand. If he invaded the Donbas area it would be horrible but understandable since he was "liberating " the local russians. The invasion of every area west of the Dnipro is a big step which is condemned by most of the world
He was pushing hard for Kyiv, trying not to stop with no consolidation of whatever gained.
Gabbard was right. Shouldn't have recognized Ukraine as a potential part of NATO. It turns out that we are harming them way more than we're helping. The footages are horrible. My prayers are with the innocent civilians
^ This is from a self-proclaimed Trump-hater who goes round vote-policing, berating and insulting other users for expressing their doubts and reservations about Joe Biden. He also urges others to end relationships and friendships just to "vote Trump out". https://ibb.co/2jRnZGC He can't seem to walk the talk himself.

This thread moves so fast so I don't know if this has already been posted, but the Russian government is now threatening Finland if they join NATO.
Uefa being ridiculous again. Removing the Champions League final from St Petersburg but still sucking that lovely gazprom money tit.

Yeeeee, Putin and the crew are going full retard.
Sometimes, the light of the moon is a key to other spaces. I've found a place where, for a night or two, the streets curve in unfamiliar ways. If I walk here, I might find insight, or I might be touched by madness.
