He will do what he did in December. Present retarded demands that no one sane will agree upon and then say "oh well, I tried to end this bloodshed".
Yeah, the "talks" are probably to save face on the homefront, both in regards to having to invade a country of similar blood and culture (which is never very popular) and as a pre-emptive defense to justify the, apparently, higher than expected casualties. "Oh, I tried to end it, but these pesky Ukrainians just didn't like being invaded for some reason!".

I don't expect him to just back off unless Ukraine surrenders, which seems extremely unlikely. In for a penny, in for a pound, he'd be foolish to retreat with his tail between his legs as it would mean he lost international status AND appears weak which he desperately doesn't want to.

True, but I am just going off of Russia's own mantra to escalate to de-escalate.

I think ideally they wished the threat of invasion would of been enough. Just as I am sure they hope their incursion so far has been enough. If the talks fail, I don't see them conceding an inch. They are obsessed with keeping up their own delusions and will never admit to failure in Ukraine.

What's stopping the west isn't allies of Russia, it's ICBMs.

Are these numbers....real? If so...Jesus Christ. And I'm now reading that the Russian military is facing unexpected difficulties in the Ukrainian capital.

It seems very sketchy for him to advocate for negociations one day after the attack started. The attack has been planned and prepared for months and Russia used considerable forces and measures. Did Putin expect to take the whole country in a couple of hours?

I would say the numbers are exaggerated. However the russian blitzkrieg failed. Hence the proposal of talks by the russians. The russians underestimated Ukrainian defense. In the long run the russians might win but the longer it takes the more they lose face.

putin overplayed his hand. If he invaded the Donbas area it would be horrible but understandable since he was "liberating " the local russians. The invasion of every area west of the Dnipro is a big step which is condemned by most of the world

He was pushing hard for Kyiv, trying not to stop with no consolidation of whatever gained.

Gabbard was right. Shouldn't have recognized Ukraine as a potential part of NATO. It turns out that we are harming them way more than we're helping. The footages are horrible. My prayers are with the innocent civilians

He also urges others to end relationships and friendships just to "vote Trump out". https://ibb.co/2jRnZGC He can't seem to walk the talk himself.

I don't know if anyone can confirm stats, or is it just positive reinforcements, but one thing I noticed that the Russians do indeed move in very large convoys, this gives insurgency juicy ambush opportunities.

No way of verifying at all, perhaps ever. However, the blitzkrieg stalled, and they failed to secure a supply route via Antonov Airport to get it going again. Overstretched forces running long supply lines against asymmetric warfare are pretty much fucked.

This thread moves so fast so I don't know if this has already been posted, but the Russian government is now threatening Finland if they join NATO.

Uefa being ridiculous again. Removing the Champions League final from St Petersburg but still sucking that lovely gazprom money tit.

His terms are oddly less than what many expected as well, which I would have thought would be unconditional terms or close. So that raises some questions.

    - Is Russia's military facing more resistance than they expected causing them to rethink things? The Russian VDV assault on the Kiev airport was a complete disaster.
    - Have the sanctions and Russia's precipitous market drops since Wednesday caused panic?
    - Did he expect to have more global support? China has been curiously quiet on this other than "urging restraint" by both sides.
    - Or has the risk at high-levels of this escalating into a larger conflict reached the point that they want to step back?

The other option is that this was the plan all along...a somewhat restrained invasion to try to force Ukraine to meet it's demands. This seems unlikely though, because the price of sanctions, the market freefall, the lives of Russian soldiers lost, the global condemnation, the serious and almost irreparable damage to Russia in world standing, has now all been committed to. Stepping back now will save the loss of more lives on both sides and is very welcome for peace, it just doesn't seem like it could have been Russia's original plan. This seems much more like a case of things not going well and now looking for a way out. And Russia has been disingenuous at times in it's negotiations leading up to this, so we'll have to wait and see how sincere this offer is.
I mean Putin has already shown he is a liar. I hope leaders don't buy into being duped again.

This is exactly why countries neighbouring Russia want to join Nato. Nato has never threatened us, Russia does that all the time.

Russia leaves all its neighbours with no other choice. We gonna fight them one day anyway, why not slaughter the dickless invaders together with foreign friends?

Good if true but it really means little. Every conflict since war reporting became something you can see on the nightly news painted the offensive side 'getting fought back' early.

Yeeeee, Putin and the crew are going full retard.
Sometimes, the light of the moon is a key to other spaces. I've found a place where, for a night or two, the streets curve in unfamiliar ways. If I walk here, I might find insight, or I might be touched by madness.
