It's not unheard of though, during WWII several Japanese transports got torpedoed by the US, while carrying US POWs. If it happened it was a tragedy and wholly the fault of the russians unless they notified the Ukrainians beforehand.

It was PoWs. Specifically Urkainian PoWs. They were being flown to the front to supply the Russian forces.
Rations are hard to come by, so after their rape, torture, and death the Pieces of Warriors were being sent to the front as food.

Russian lies aren't meant to be believed. They serve to muddy waters.

Indeed, I was pointing out the absurdity of the only explanation for such a situation : P

I'm skeptical any miliary can claim to have 20 sets of identical twins serving, much less 20 sets that share the same first name.

To be fair to that list given russian bureaucracy and corruption I'd not be surprised if they just got the wrong list.

    Erdogan signs off on Sweden.

Last hurdle - Orban. Wonder how long they will put up with his shit.
Sometimes, the light of the moon is a key to other spaces. I've found a place where, for a night or two, the streets curve in unfamiliar ways. If I walk here, I might find insight, or I might be touched by madness.

Honestly, why did he even pretend until now? Why not just be open with what everyone knows. Few will come back alive in the end.

OPEC is upset that US oil production is getting so high and can stay profitable at a 60 dollar target, so there might be another flood on the market again soon. If that happens then bye bye Putin's war coffers.

because Putin is widely loved in Russia contrary to people spreading disinformation about dissent and fabricated approval ratings. To keep his image up, he needs to lie.

No he isn't. Just like with Kim Jong Un, if you don't support Putin, you end up in a gulag, or dead by being thrown out a window with 2 bullets in your back.

Just about every member of OPEC is a self interested shitlord, so yes. They won't give a shit about Russia if they're own money is on the line.

They don't lie to convince anyone, they lie to enforce the prison hierarchy.

    "The sky is green"
"But Mr. Putin, it clearly is blue"
"Really? What are you going to do about it, bitch?"
    "..."
    "Yes?"
"It clearly is green Mr. Putin. I'm sorry for being a bitch"

Reality is not that simple. Putin is supported by most of the russian people because he lacks competition (they mostly end up dead or in prison) and he is opposed to the West which is seen as weak and decadent.

Well their weak decadence is currently kicking Russia’s ass. All without them breaking a sweat.

I remember there was a Russian poster a while back in this thread that devolved from his support of Russia into anger at zelensky, calling him something akin to a “drag-wearing performing clown” and that Ukraine should be an shamed laughing stock for having such a man as president. To which I pointed out that were one to find that embarrassing, it must certainly be more embarrassing to be losing to such an individual.

The West is seen as morally decadent in Russia. They simply do not have the same values overall. That issue is rather complex.

The same values trump and his cohort are promoting and pursuing no less.

Seeing as the majority of Russian civilians seem to be wholly supportive of their country invading a neighboring sovereign nation under entirely fabricated pretenses whilst all the time crying that the world is being mean to them and that Russia is the real victim, what the average Russian thinks or believe is or isn't right doesn't seem to be worth very much.

Which is not the point here. And honestly does not add anything to the subject at hand.

I am not sure we can "ignore" the beliefs or whatever of a good portion of 143 millions people.
