And once again russia is lying. They did not offer a ceasefire - they sent to the US what they termed Ukraine's surrender terms, demanding that the US accept it with zero input from Ukraine, like it was the Great Powers awarding part of Czechoslovakia to Germany without any say by the Czechoslovakian government. The terms were that Ukraine give up all land occupied by russia, and in addition Kherson, Kharkiv and Odessa as well, that Ukraine never be allow to join NATO and that Ukraine can't have a leader that russia doesn't approve of.

Naturally the US went nope, Ukraine is a sovereign nation - go speak to them, not us.

russia deliberately went with something that was unacceptable so that they could then use their online trolls and republican stooges to go, see, the US in a warmonger, we have to stop funding Ukraine so that there is peace.
