In case it wasn't clear, I wasn't suggesting that anyone who hates it there should move. Just that I don't have to find myself responsible for what's going on there 20 years later. Although I do still get to vote for the most progressive candidates available so I suppose I'm responsible to that degree.

Problem with that is as soon as he does that he becomes an acute problem for EVERYONE in the inner circle, the golden rule of authoritarianism is you don't piss off those who keep your regime up. putin may be the strongman but he's only as strong as the loyalty he commands, if the army and the FSB say: enough! he's gone. and that might happen if they doubt his loyalty to them.

The mafia petrostate has gone from a fuel exporter to now importing fuel from Belarus. It's not a huge amount currently, about 3000 tons this month, but they are in talks to import more.
