it's not preposterous and totally plausible. Obviously Russia can't threaten the US to back off entirely, but they're perfectly capable of telling them to withhold a certain degree of aid when the heat gets too hot.

The US wants Russia to lose, but not in a curb-stomp way.

That has literally nothing to do with any kind of "heat" from Russia. Our policy is not dictated by Putin's bluster unless Trump is in charge.

Ukraine policy is. Remember Joe Biden said he wanted to always have an exit for Putin in the event Russia loses the war. There would be no escape if he crushingly lost the war.

So aid is based on it being evenly matched at all times. If such a policy DID NOT EXIST, Russia would have already lost years ago.

That would be Ukraine and the US dictating Russian policy, not the other way around.

It's conspiracy theory garbage and will be reported as such.

The Tuareg are such an interesting people. It's a tribal, nomadic culture, which practices Islam, but where women are the owners of property and where men wear the veil but women do not. They also regularly bonk everyone from colonial powers to Jihadists whenever they start messing with them.

Bit more on the ambush in Mali - there is actually a bit of a three way civil war going on there. On one side is the Mali Junta that recently overthrew the government with russian help, then there is the various Isis affiliated groups and lastly the Tuaregs, who are fighting for independence.

A joint Wagner/Malian patrol had been sent out to push back the Tuaregs, but instead the Tuareg stalked it for a few days, livestreaming it before ambushing it. In the process they heavily damaged a helicopter, causing it to crash land, destroyed a number of vehicles, including with fpv drones, and cause the patrol to retreat. Then ISIS ambushed the retreating patrol and killed a bunch more from what people have been able to figure out.

Wagner channels reported 80 dead Wagnerites and another 15 captured. The Tuaregs actually offered to send those they captured to Ukraine in solidarity in their struggle against russia.

Included in the dead is the Wagnerite who lead the assault on Soledar in Ukraine and the admin of the Grey Zone Wagner telegram channel. There is video of the dead and captured and the numbers given look very reasonable.

Every word just made it better. Ok, seriously though, gettign ambushed twice isn't funny. (The Tuareg offering to send the russians to Ukraine? Priceless.)

Following up on what I said yesterday with Russia being concerned over Ukraine plotting something to warrant warning the US. It seems like it is a horrific cyberattack on Moscow that is still ongoing as of writing

ATM services were knocked out at top Russian banks on Saturday, July 27, day five of a large-scale Ukrainian cyberattack, a source working in Ukrainian intelligence told Kyiv Post.

The customers of several Russian banks couldn’t withdraw cash, because when attempting to use ATMs, their debit and credit cards were immediately blocked, the source said in written comments.

“An unprecedented attack by cyber specialists of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine [HUR] on the russian banking sector, which is involved in financing the armed aggression of the russian federation, has been going on for several days in a row,” it said.

The Ukrainian cyberattack began on the morning of July 23. So far, the hackers have:

Frozen bank payment systems and mobile applications.
    Caused outages in personal offices
    Barred payments for public transport
Caused interruptions to the Russian mobile and internet providers Beeline, MegaFon, Tele2, and Rostelecom
Attacked popular online messengers and the largest Russian social networks
Gained access to major banks’ databases

The source said that the Russian bank Dom.RF was added to the list of hacked banks – a list that includes VTB Bank, Alfa-Bank, Sberbank, Raiffeisen Bank, RSHB Bank, Rosbank, Gazprombank, Tinkoff Bank and iBank.

“This is an opportune moment to fully implement the Kremlin’s long-desired ‘import substitution’ in the form of wooden abacuses, paper savings books, and cave paintings for accounting,” the source had said, the day after the cyberattack had begun.

The attack is “gaining momentum,” the source added in Saturday’s comments.

Russia got attacked by the country it's attacking? OH NOES! I thought wars were only supposed to be one-sided!?!?
Star Trek teaches us that if we work together, we can accomplish anything. Star Wars teaches us that sometimes violence is necessary against an oppressive government. Both are valuable lessons.
    Just, be kind.

Good. They've earned far worse. Ideally, this gets bad enough that starving Russians drag Putin out of the Kremlin and set fire to him in Red Square.

Cyber attacks equate to indiscriminate terror attacks though. Besides knocking off bank accounts of civilians, they are capable of shutting down hospitals.

They're at war. Russia regularly attacks civilians and civilian infrastructure. If Russia wants the war to be over, they can achieve that today. Until they do, may their banks burn and their citizens starve. Fuck 'em. They're entirely responsible for everything they're suffering.

You don't get to invade another country and slaughter thousands of innocent civilians and then whine because they fought back.

Besides knocking off bank accounts of civilians, they are capable of shutting down hospitals.
I will repeat; good. If Russians don't like it, Russians can pull Putin down and stop the war they're conducting.

Russia's been actively targeting hospitals and medical centers in Ukraine. Take your apologist bootlicking and double standards and shove it up your ear.

I know it is hard for Ruskis to believe this, but attacks being aimed at infrastructure doesn't automatically mean that hospitals are also targeted.

Russia's been doing that to countries they aren't at war with.

Like Finland, constant GPS signal jamming, illegal border crossings such as sending tons of refugees in the deep winter, pushing them off Russia quite literally to die in the cold unless Finland takes them in, cybercrime and attacks...

Given they have been at it for...as long as the technology existed, clearly this justifies literally anything happening to them in return.
