If the average age is up to 45+ then putin seems to be succeeding in a genocide...a genocide of the russian people. (Well, not really since he's using minorities mostly but yeah, point stands that he's succeeding in a genocide of his own subjects.)

Keep in mind the younger men are more likely conscripts and are therefore mostly serving in Russian territory, not dying in Ukraine.

Yes, but were talking ARMY as a whole, not who is fighting in Ukraine and who isn't. In order to get to 45+ avg you're not having a bunch of young'uns in the army. (conscripted youngsters are still part of the army.)

Corvus misspoke a bit; that's not the average age of all Russian soldiers, it's the average age of new volunteer recruits, ie. not conscripts.

Volunteer fighters aged 45 and over now make up half of new recruits in Moscow, a senior Mayor’s Office source was cited as saying. The average age of recruits has risen from 40 at the start of the year to about 50, said another Moscow Mayor’s Office source.

A BBC study last month found that:
