Europeans Told to Stockpile Food in Case of War With Russia
People living in the European Union should stockpile emergency supplies in the event of war breaking out or another major emergency, a new report has advised.

The report on Europe's civilian and military preparedness, published on Wednesday, was written by former Finnish President Sauli Niinistö in his capacity as Special Adviser to the President of the European Commission.

The report notes that the EU was not prepared for either the COVID-19 pandemic or Russia's aggression against Ukraine, and that it needs to move "from reaction to proactive preparedness."

As part of this strategy, the EU should advise households to be prepared to be self-sufficient for a minimum of 72 hours in the event of an emergency, the report says.

It advises member states to provide its citizens with guidelines on stockpiling, evacuations, and how to access emergency services, among other things.
Looks like having another Axis nation supporting russia in its invasion with actual boots on the ground is rightly starting to worry some people. South Korea is talking about sending monitor teams to Ukraine. Maybe more assistance to follow. Its not fair that Ukraine is fighting the war for Europe, for the US and now for the South Koreans without getting as much help as possible.

Yeah, really not worried about any of that. Russia isn't invading anyone in a long time, especially not a NATO country, even if Ukraine war were to end today.

Russia is stupid, but not that stupid.

I believe the issue here is that it isn't just russia. You now have Iranian hardware and north Korean soldiers. It's just a small step for them to start funneling more and more since those first lines have already been crossed.

Thats plenty alarmist reporting. Our former president just basically suggested making a EU policy/guideline over what many countries already have nationally. Having 72 hour supplies has been recommended in Finland for decades for all sorts of reasons.

Also NK hardware&ammo and artillery shells in tune of millions. Two-way electronics and banned supplies from west through Russian vassals. Upkeep from China. Whole world is participiating in funding Russia's genocide against Ukrainians while we fail in Europe to match even NK in military aid.

There are reports that a second Russian Su-34 has been shot down by a Ukrainian F-16. The first was a few weeks ago.

Russia economy meltdown as bonds crash and shopping centres face mass bankruptcy
Russia's government bond index (RGBI) has crashed to its lowest levels since the introduction of Western sanctions during the Ukraine war, raising fears of a sharp economic slowdown.

The RGBI index hit new lows of 96.330 rubles on Friday, signalling a crisis of confidence among investors.

Investors are demanding higher yields, which in turn will push up borrowing costs for the government.

This could force budget cuts or tax hikes, straining an already stressed economy for Putin and Russia.

Russia on the brink as 'serious economic crisis' and 'massive credit crunch' loom
I think one way or another the American election is going to mark the begining of the end of the war in Ukraine. Without trumps assistance russia is facing a ticking clock at home.

While it's nice to be optimistic about this, the sad reality will most likely be that China will keep Russia afloat like they have up until this point because they want their vassal to remain functional. The battlefield situation, the immediate problem especially in Donbass region, has been long deteriorating thanks to the far better support Russia receives from it's allies than what Ukraine is being promised&delivered.

China's economy is not doing so great either, and propping up russia can not be cheap. Throw in their concerns over rusdia and north Korea cosying up and russia transferring nuclear and missile tech to them and at some point China will start considering if it is worth the cost anymore.

China wants to exploit Russia like they're doing in Africa.

I won't be holding my breath for any serious split between the two within timeframe thats relevant to the ongoing situation on the ground.

Our analysts have been predicting Russia's economic and military collapse within 2 to 5 years from the start of Russias eacalation of war in 2022 and 3 years in its still 3-5 years away. Meanwhile military analysts has shifted their general assessments about potential eventual collapse of Russian military to saying they might emerge stronger than prior to war regardless of how it ends due to effective shift to war economy and with support of their allies that far surpass Europes combined contributions.

The olive branch people seem to be holding onto is that Russia faces economic and population collapse but the way things are going thats on a decade level timeframe while ongoing military situation needs immediate actions.

Nah, I'm just waiting for the Ukrainians to finish developing their own nukes and ballistic missile programs. Then they will negotiate on their own terms without western restrictions.

I doubt that's going to happen anytime soon, if ever. And that's probably for the best. Nukes are stupid expensive, and much of Ukraine is in ruins, especially it's economy. And I doubt what Ukraine would be able to scrape together would be much help in deterring Russia in any case. They aren't beating Russia in that war, and Ukraine going nuclear would make any international goodwill dry pretty fucking quickly.

No, what Ukraine needs is good, old defensive pacts with others. Like NATO. We should have entered that war and kicked Russia out years a go. It's a travesty we've let it go on like this.

Looks like Moldova has escaped Russia's election interference intact, as Maia Sandu has won the presidential election over her pro-Russian opponent.
