Drones just hit russias Caspian sea naval base over 1000km from Ukraine. Defence seemed to be a bunch of conscripts with AKs.
Ukraine had been holding off strikes on oil and gas infrastructure at the request of the US. We could probably see that resume soon as well.
It'll be interesting to see how Trump approaches the war. Most believe he's just going to essentially surrender Ukraine without a fight. Imo there's also a chance he goes full strongman and tells Ukraine to start bombing Moscow.
Why? The Republicans do not oppose the war, or supporting Ukraine, geopolitics is something the two parties are pretty unified on. Rather, they opposed doing virtually anything Biden wanted.
Trump, as many seem to have forgotten, was essentially completely right about Ukraine, Russia, and Europe in NATO. He went to Europe, said they weren't spending enough on defenses, said they were in bed with Russia due to natural gas interests, and said Russia was going to use that against them. What happened? Russia invaded Ukraine, Europe couldn't end their natural gas purchases, and Europe couldn't keep up with the defense needs of Ukraine.
In a way, Europe eventually did what he wanted them to do, which was contribute more to NATO. The problem is this isn't the same Trump as 2016, who had more sanity and nuance. Current Trump is genuinely an unhinged demented man, and while I think there's a chance he actually gives Russia the finger, it's still more likely he rolls over for them.
@korijenkins
You are forgetting the part where Russia owns him. He cowered against Putin in Helsinki, he has been in steady communications with him before during and after he left office and the fact Trump was trying to get a Hotel in Moscow built and the fact that Russia's own bank known for money laundering has given him over 2 BILLION dollars before he even first took office and forgave the money.
Trump even asked about our Russian assets when taking office the last time and shortly after meeting with Putin they started dropping.
Putin says jump, Trump says "How High".
Since we can't call out Trolls and Bad Faith posters and the Ignore function doesn't actually ignore it. Add

to your ublock or adblock filter to actually ignore ignored posters. Now just need a way to ignore responses to them as well.
Oh yeah, I forgot about this - No, Ukraine is not going to get nukes and if they do as much as make dirty bomb (and that is the only thing they actually could manage, leave the fantastic "underground missile labs/factories" to NAFO imagination) then everyone on Bankovaja are guaranteed to be dead.
Personally I wonder if the crazies over there will now really push the ideas about mandatory service for women and lowering conscription age to 18 (and someone even decided that Ukraine should mobilize up to 14 year olds). Busification is clearly not cutting it.

Europe is waking up to a new reality that they need to be better prepared and to rely a lot less on US military.

The Russians knew they had to switch strategies, because they switched to a war of attrition when their casualties and KIA started to rise using Western military doctrine. Same thing happened with western trained mechanized brigades of the Ukrainian armed forces using NATO tactics. Most of the success that Ukraine has shown, and has proven to work is their own military doctrine along with new innovations like drone warfare.
russia has already scoffed at the idea trump can solve this in 24 hours.

I find it disturbing that trump is the focus of the 4 seperate most popular threads. No man should have that much influence.
On the bright side, if there is one. I think people will find out he was lying about everything really quickly. He used the "on the first day" line quite a lot. One of those being, ending the wars.

You think that walking disaster has handlers??!?!?! The guy has literally convinced himself he's the second coming of Christ and this election win is going to be like dumping rocket fuel his god complex. He's a deranged narcissistic sociopath with delusions of grandeur and the attention span of a toddler. They've elected a fucking mad king, and I almost guarantee you he's going to try to get every random insane thought that crosses his head forced down the country's throat, and his court of sycophantic bootlickers will literally stab themselves in the backs to be the one to get his every psychotic whim realized in the hopes that they may get his favour for a few minutes.
As said above he's selfish and only thinks about himself, as far as I know none from his old administration will even be involved in his upcoming period.
He had a super-majority for a while in his first period and got nothing done whatsoever.
Anyway this is off-topic for this thread.
Not that there was any doubt.
Ukraine is forced to confront a brutal Trump reality that it hoped would never happen
Among other things, this election turned the clock from in Ukraines favour, to russias. It sadly sounds like they only have about two months left. Europe and Biden can still salvage this, but they need to move fast with aid.Bets were hedged, upsides conjured and insurance policies crafted. But ultimately, most hoped it would not happen.
Ukraine and its NATO allies have had for months to entertain the idea of a Trump victory, juggling conceits of a strongman US president who might be a yet tougher ally, a dealmaker who might bring a favorable peace, or fresh eyes who might see a new end to a fatiguing war.
This was but a comforting fiction: The road ahead for Kyiv is extremely stark. There should be no enduring mystery about what a Trump presidency means for Ukraine. Donald Trump has said he would end the war “in 24 hours,” but not how. He also said that “Zelensky should never have let that war start,” and dubbed him “one of the greatest salesmen I have ever seen” who gets $100 billion on every visit to Congress.
....
Trump is erratic and unpredictable, especially with complex and time-consuming matters like foreign conflicts. He prefers the fast fix of just leaving Afghanistan to the Taliban, or a Singapore face-to-face with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, or a drone strike on Iranian Revolutionary Guard commander Qasem Soleimani. We may never learn if he really studied the direction he imposes on Ukraine, or if he just never again wants to talk about the war, or spend money on it.
Whatever the speed or detail of the Trump approach, the damage will still be palpable in the weeks ahead. I recall in December of last year the massive blow to morale among Ukrainian troops when Congress stalled US military aid for around six months. Frontline troops told me they would have to flee their positions without that help, even if they knew the Biden administration still wanted – in principle – to have their back. Now they must deal with the tables turned: the possibility that some aid still drips through from the Pentagon and European NATO allies, but that the Trump administration has instead taken a hostile posture at Kyiv’s spine.
