“But this isn’t the end. I promise you, this is not the end, and we have to regroup and we have to continue to fight and continue to work day in and day out to create the better society for our children, for this world, for this country, that we know is possible.” ~~Jon Stewart
Nah they didn't, Christmas truce in WW1 was more of an exception and also was also more localized, French didn't exactly feel like sharing gifts with Germans soldiers on French soil.
Was more common between English and Germans, where the conflict wasn't as personal.
Then again, can also argue that Russians don't celebrate Christmas on the 24th / 25th but in January.
IIRC, Ukraine moved it to December to show they were culturally moving away from Russia.
You can now argue whether it's "okay" to attack on an important holiday of another nation but this naturally made Russia even more likely to attack on this day, for both tactical and political reasons.

A civilian plane flying from Azerbaijan to Grozny has gone down. Russian authorities are claiming bird strike but there is a lot of talk given the condition of the plane russia may have shot it down with a SAM.

Sometimes, the light of the moon is a key to other spaces. I've found a place where, for a night or two, the streets curve in unfamiliar ways. If I walk here, I might find insight, or I might be touched by madness.

Azerbaijan is saying the civilian plane was hit by a sam - and the only nation it could have been was russia.
After being hit, the plane was denied emergency landing three times in russia, before being directed across the Caspian sea towards Kazakhstan. It looks like they may have been hoping it would crash in the sea to cover on their crimes. It managed to make Kazakhstan but crashed, killing half the passengers and both pilots, who did an amazing job getting the plane there and saving as many lives as they did.

I thought it was suspect at the speed they announced it was birds.
Not to mention russia does have a history in destroying passenger airliners.
Edit;
Euronews confirming it was a Russian sam.
Craziest part of this is watching the video of a flaming jet crashing to the ground and to see people walking away from it.

My whole political stance pretty much boils down to "I care about other people and the planet" and wow does that make some people mad.
Airlines should really stop sending planes over Russian airspace.
Seems like a good way to lose vehicles

Honest question because I just don't know, but I obviously expect a certain answer already.
Did stuff like this happen before the war frequently?
Because if not, I have no idea why the heck we just take it all the time.
It's not like the repairs are cheap and unproblematic or whatever.
Finland<>Germany
Lithuania<>Sweden
Finland<>Estonia
Sweden<>Denmark
do we just wait until we are blind or something?
It's probably not like these lines themselves will result in a blackout or anything serious by themselves.
But I guess they are not there just for fun.
Can't wait for China to investigate our/othe ships etc. on a whim, while making shit up, and when we deny it, they'll do it anyway.

Seoul says Ukraine has captured its first NK soldier. Previous they have put nk losses at 1000, or 10% of the troops sent. Ukraine says it is 3000.
