    What an absolute garbage take.

First, that $500m was part of a larger amount that was already authorized. Biden isn't free to do whatever with it. That's not how it works.

Also, it's not $500m in cash. It's $500m worth of military equipment that's already been manufactured. So no, we can't just send rockets, shells, etc. to California to fight wildfires.

As if that's not enough, you somehow have a massive overestimation of what $500m (let alone $50m) will get you. For example, CalFIRE's yearly budget is nearly $4b. Yes, with a "b". Hell, the LAFD is budgeted at $820m, and they're only responsible for LA.

You wouldn't be able to do shit with $50m, or even $500m, to guarantee no wildfires throughout the state.

A regiment of North Korean soldiers equipped with squirt guns and water balloons.

    Pocket the remaining $49 million.

4 billion? What a fantastic use of resources this has been. I'm sure the people who lost their homes will be extremely understanding for that department's firebreak management and forest thinning.

    I say fund it.

Could always try dropping a few bombs on the wildfires and blow them away with the shockwave.

And for that, you can find a relevant thread to complain about how California has used their budget. For US choosing to aid a sovereign nation to survive a genocide, you can blame Russia. Nothing and no one forced them to invade, in 2014 and 2022 alike.

I know, you're only here to shitpost and don't read past the headline, so let me quote the actual article for you:

The Biden administration has given its final injection of military support to Ukraine, unveiling a $500m weapons package just days before Donald Trump’s return to the White House threatens to upend western backing for Kyiv.

The aid bundle – including air defense missiles and F-16 fighter jet equipment – was announced on Thursday by outgoing US defense secretary Lloyd Austin during a summit at Germany’s Ramstein air base.
Now tell me how California should use missiles and fighter jets against conflagrations, you absolute retard.

You mean USA didn't actually get a Jewish Space Laser from Israel? What a waste of bullets, in these "coming days of a US civil war" according to some prophets.

I know you struggle with matters of economics, but you realize the U.S. isn't sending Ukraine big suitcases of money, and the price tag is a simplification of the cost of already made weapons that are just sitting around, right?

Imagine being from Greece that had devastating wildfires in 2021, 2023 and 2024 lecturing others about how to prevent wildfires.

At the very least you'd think they would be more sympathetic.

Ok, so you genuinely have zero clue of what you're talking about, righto. Some folks just want to make it really clear they are fundamentally unserious people, I guess.

Sell them for $500 million and send the money to California? Is this really the argument?

Sell them to who? Ukraine doesn't have $500M rofl.

It's like you've missed the years of discussion on what the aide we're giving Ukraine actually is so we're having to go back in time a few years to re-cover the same ground. While you also make the weirdest unsupported claims like spending $50M to stop wildfires in California rofl.

Greece is a fifth world country in comparison to California and their resources. It's sad to see this happening in countries with dozens of times the budget per capita compared to Greece.

Because I am from Greece and actually know people from forestry departments who have spent nights patrolling and sleeping in forests and have woken up amidst a fire, you should just stop.

You know this is the thread for the Russian invasion and war in Ukraine and not the thread for people who are just learning about the California wildfires to ask questions that have been thoroughly answered for weeks.

Plenty of regimes willing to pay top dollar for US equipment. I'm sure they can find a way, as they have many times in the past. But no, they won't do that for some Californians.

I'd do a better job than whatever the 4 billion dollars was supposed to do. Pretty sure anyone could.

Who are we gonna sell to, Iran? rofl

Beyond that, everything you've written is largely detached from anything approaching reality and it seems you haven't any clue how any of this works. I'm not sure it's worth the effort or time trying to re-explain again in this thread, or from the other threads detailing the challenges of the CA wildfires that you apparently couldn't be bothered to read before giving your spiciest and most uniformed hot-takes.

I'm just glad the Americans in this thread feel proud and happy the $500 million was money well spent.

See, this is what I'm talking about.

We didn't spend $500M, which you've repeatedly been told but either choose not to read or choose to forget immediately after reading it.

You do not seem like a very serious person.
