The soldiers went missing on March 25 while operating an M88 Hercules armored recovery vehicle, the Army said, and the next day, their 63-ton vehicle was found submerged in about 15 feet of water and mud in a training area.

"Most likely, the M88 drove into the swamp," and the vehicle "may have just gone diagonally to the bottom," Lithuanian Defense Minister Dovile Sakaliene told ABC News via phone last week.

Image of the m88, this thing weighs 50.8 tons for the normal and A1 variant, and if it was the A2 version it weighs 63.5 tons.

Thanks though, interesting to see those drives actually be lower in recent years.
2008 is the Russo-Georgian War. The Second Chechen War officially ends in 2009

From what I can see Russia barely lost anyone in the Georgian war and can't find any good numbers for death toll late in the Chechen war. I have to wonder if it was also a push from Medvedev since he became president in 2008.

Expanded criteria and legal gray areas
In an unusual step, the Russian Defense Ministry has also proposed looser medical standards for enlistment, potentially allowing those with conditions such as syphilis or certain neurological disorders to serve, provided their impairments are classified as “minor.” The policy has yet to be formally adopted but has already sparked backlash from human rights activists.

Full Metal Jacket this shit up!
Honestly, it hardly matters what kinds of conditions or disorders one has, if their job is to be drone bait, or charge at machine guns and artillery as part of a meatwave. Anything that walks, or even crawls can serve da mudderland.

The "problem" is undermining even further the morale in the Russian barracks with STIs and guys that could literally go Full Metal Jacket.

Not that I care, to be honest. But it just adds how non-sensical is the "Russia WILL invade Europe in 5 years" BS. Pure cannon fodder military strategy.

I do find it very likely that they'll try to pull some shit. For two reasons:

    1. They don't give a fuck about how many of their disposable grunts die
    2. They know for a fact that the west won't really make them lose anything but those worthless grunts. So in their eyes what do they really stand to lose by trying?

And it's true. We'd push them back across the border and that's it apart from nonsensical sanctions. It's absurd and completely ridiculous, but let's face it, that's how it would go. West should start having some serious talks about how to make RuZZia LOSE something it DOES value, if it pulls bullshit. Because it should PAY for it's shit in more than it's disposable trash being...disposed. Whether it's land, money, resources or all of them that would get taken, it needs to be something of value.

Those conscripted aren't meant to get involved in the war but most face massive pressure, if not being outright forced, to sign contracts anyway to take part in it.

Conscripts aren't usually sent to war. But calling up a larger amount temporarily frees Russia up to send more experienced soldiers from their permanent stations inside Russia onto a military campaign.

So it doesn't have to have anything to do with the number of deaths.

    As everyone's attention is focused on dumbass donnie, heres a reminder of what Ukraine is dealing with;

'Russia does not want a ceasefire', Zelenskyy says after 14 killed in strike
Volodymyr Zelenskyy says at least 14 people have died, including six children, following a Russian missile strike on the Ukrainian president's hometown of Kryvyi Rih.

He said rescue operations were ongoing in the central city, with regional governor Serhii Lysak adding that at least 50 people were injured.

Zelenskyy said the attack proved Moscow was not interested in peace.

"Russian strikes every day," he said.

"People die every day. There is only one reason why this continues: Russia does not want a ceasefire, and we see it. The whole world sees it.

"Every missile, every strike drone proves that Russia only wants war. And only from the pressure of the world on Russia, from all efforts to strengthen Ukraine, our air defence, our forces - only on this depends when the war will end."
The right wing parties continue to clutch their pearls, preaching on about there must be negotiations and how sitting down at the table is the only way. While in reality -
"Russian strikes every day," he said "People die every day."
It's not a problem if you don't look up.

Some positive news in a long while. Seems like that after almoust half a year of small but continued losses in key strategic directions that could've endangered larger amount of front lines due to how supply and logistics work, Ukraine has gotten Pokrovsk area stabilized. Loss of the city would've been a major strategic defeat in that region.

As the convict in the white house invites a war criminal from the middle east to chat about golf swings and ruining the global economy, lets not forget Ukraine is still out there, being hammered by the might of the russian military. (kek)
Heres a good (paywall) clip from an article from the Economist that emphasises that the future of Ukraine will be its military investment from European allies. Perhaps even those turned off by doing business in america.
I propose the title to be the Liberal Death Cult.... of defense, but they went in a different direction.

How Europe hopes to turn Ukraine into a “steel porcupine”
Investing in the country’s defence industry is the best way to keep it in the fight
ACEASEFIRE BETWEEN Russia and Ukraine remains a distant prospect, and Europe has made slow progress towards creating a “reassurance force” to help support one. American military aid is dwindling and will soon run out altogether unless renewed by Donald Trump, which looks unlikely. The best way to guarantee Ukraine’s security, its supporters say, is to ensure it is armed to the teeth, ceasefire or no. To that end, on March 19th the European Commission outlined a two-part “porcupine strategy” for Ukraine.

Ukraine captures two Chinese nationals fighting for Russia

The Ukrainian president said intelligence suggested the number of Chinese soldiers in Russia's army is "much higher than two".

I'll assume that China will say these people were volunteers.

Very likely, simple 'mercenaries' signing up for a payday.

Russia steps up offensive across the front line in Ukraine, in apparent defiance of Trump. What does it mean for the war?
London and Kyiv CNN — Offensive operations by Russia’s army have increased across the front line, according to social media posts by Ukrainian officers, an analysis of information from the General Staff in Kyiv and soldiers speaking to CNN.

It is not yet clear if this is the start of a major spring offensive by Vladimir Putin’s forces, of which Ukraine has been warning for some time. However, it appears to suggest the Russian leader is unconcerned about upsetting US President Donald Trump, who will make up his mind “in a matter of weeks” if the Kremlin is serious about peace, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, said last week.
Are people starting to realize that trump lied about his ability to perform on everything yet?

Sure. Why not. There are a ton of mercs and adventurers on both sides, so why not Chinese nationals too? You cannot imagine how many trained people are DYING for a reason to turn their war fantasies and LARP-ing into reality, and this war is the best thing for them.

If aliens came to Earth and said they are hiring people to fight in a far away space war against another civilization, on a one way ticket no less, hundreds of thousands of people would instantly sign up, if not a million people or two.
