As I understood it, Russia has 5 A-50's, 3 that can fly and 2 that are grounded and are being used for parts. The 2 A-50's shown look to be the grounded ones as they seem to be missing some flaps and engines. Blowing up or damaging the radar systems on those is still valuable in the long run, as Russia can't make those systems anymore.
At the start of the war they had reportedly 6, 4 operational and 2 spare parts, but since then two have already been downed in the last years and with these two destroyed they either have no functional ones left or they have no parts left. This plane is now functionally extinct.

So, with everyone rightly distracted with trump's and elon's hilarious squabble, what he said regarded Ukraine has been overshadowed. During his meeting with the German Chancellor, who was there to ask for assistance with pressuring russia, he said;
'Sometimes you’re better off letting them fight[Trump says on Russia-Ukraine war.
Sure sounds like a perfectly normal thing to say and not at all weird and dumb."Sometimes you see two young children fighting like crazy,” Trump said. “They hate each other, and they’re fighting in a park, and you try and pull them apart. They don’t want to be pulled. Sometimes you’re better off letting them fight for a while and then pulling them apart."
Trump said he used the same comparison during a 75-minute call with Russian President Vladimir Putin the day before, casting himself not as a direct participant but as a referee observing the conflict.
"You see it in hockey. You see it in sports. The referees let them go for a couple of seconds," he said. "Let them go for a little while before you pull them apart."
Trump has repeatedly threatened to impose sanctions on Russia if he does not see progress in peace talks between Kyiv and Moscow. While he did not name a specific date, he added, "Yes, it's in my brain the deadline."
Calling Ukraine "the apple of Putin’s eye," Trump claimed the Russian leader wants to take control of the entire country. Following a reported Ukrainian drone strike on Russian aircraft, Trump said Putin now plans to retaliate.

My whole political stance pretty much boils down to "I care about other people and the planet" and wow does that make some people mad.

While I still expect Russia will come up with some kind of retaliation, aimed primarily at Ukrainian civilians, as usual, it seems that they attempted some kind of a combined multi wave attack of Shaheds, Iskanders and some type of large long range cruise missiles launched from somewhere near Kazakhstan.
And the whole thing turned into a massive fiasco.
The Iskanders launchers were blown up inside Russia by a Ukrainian air strike or long range drone strike or cruise missile strike of some kind.

And the long range cruise missiles (rumored to have been Oreshniks by pro-Russian Z commentators) blew up just after launch and seem to have fallen somewhere near the Kazakhstan border, whether in Russia proper or in Kazakhstan is still unclear.

The Shaheds still did their thing. Somewhat ironic that it seems the most reliable weapon system in the Russian arsenal now is a copy of a cheap Iranian drone.
Russia launched a large scale attack last night with over 400 Shahed drones and some 40-60 missiles as reported by Ukraine. Russia said this was the revenge strike. Ofc it hit mostly civilian targets because those animals don't know how else to wage war. It seems it was pretty substantial tho', and Zelensky posted just recently they are still working out to try and save people from the rubble. So it was not a "no thing".
On other news, it seems Russia has begun their summer offensive especially in Sumy direction, a large city near border and has captured some villages and settlements with May being largest gains they've had in past year's timeframe or so. They are soon within artillery range. Ideally these news would courage Europe to boost up their aid (And they have but most of the aid is for production etc. which takes time to build up). Despite great news about the hit on Russia's strategic resources (now visually confirmed at 21 destroyed/disabled, some with missiles on so they were ready to go for next bombing run) situation on the ground is not terribly great. Russia keeps advancing, slowly, with massive human and material cost but still advancing.
Greatest problem with Ukraine still remains manpower and their reluctance to lower conscription age while Russia seems to be filling their quotas to a point they are already filling formerly emptied bases by Finnish borders (according to satellite data and Finnish intelligence)

Russia is continuing to hammer Kharkiv. Not sure what the point of it is. Its a huge city and would be nearly impossible for russia to occupy it.
In other news, looks like Ukraine managed to bring down a russian fighter, and this one was actually flying.
Su-35 fighter jet downed in Russia
A Russian Su-35 fighter jet was shot down as a result of a successful operation by Ukraine’s Air Force on the Kursk front on the morning of Saturday 7 June.

Looks like Ukraine my have pulled off another Trojan Horse attack, this time using a grain train car. Not many sources on this, so far I'm just seeing some early stuff on imgur, which was posted through Twitter, which I'm not clicking.

Wow... Just Wow.
Yeah, the western militaries are going to have a lot to learn from the Ukrainians.
Which reminds me;

Zakharova needs to watch out cause Trump is really coming for her job as Russia's spokesperson.
No surprise, Trump is upset that Russia is in danger and redirects 20,000 anti-drone missiles that were meant for Ukraine to the middle east.
President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that U.S. President Donald Trump's administration diverted 20,000 anti-drone missiles originally intended for Ukraine to American forces in the Middle East, in an interview with ABC News published on June 8.
Zelensky said Ukraine had counted on the missiles to help counter relentless Russian drone attacks, which include swarms of Iranian-designed Shahed-type drones. On June 1, Russia launched a record 472 drones in a single night.
"We have big problems with Shaheds… we will find all the tools to destroy them," Zelensky said. "We counted on this project — 20,000 missiles. Anti-Shahed missiles. It was not expensive, but it's a special technology."
Zelensky said the plan had been agreed upon with then-U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and was launched under President Joe Biden's administration.
The Wall Street Journal reported on June 4 that the Trump administration had redirected the munitions, which include special fuzes used in advanced rocket systems to intercept drones, toward U.S. forces stationed in the Middle East.
The Pentagon reportedly informed Congress in a classified message that the reallocation of the fuzes for the Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System was deemed an "urgent issue" by current Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
A Ukrainian military intelligence (HUR) source told the Kyiv Independent on June 4 that Russia is preparing to launch more than 500 long-range drones per night in future attacks, as Moscow rapidly scales up drone production and constructs new launch sites.
The Trump administration has halted the approval of new military aid packages to Ukraine since the start of his second term in January.
Trump has repeatedly expressed skepticism about continued assistance to Kyiv and temporarily suspended military shipments earlier this year, only resuming them after Ukraine agreed to a ceasefire framework during peace talks in Jeddah on March 11.
Hegseth, who ordered the temporary halt, did not attend the most recent Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting on June 4 — the first such absence by a U.S. defense chief since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
Ukraine has urgently called on Western partners to expand investments in domestic arms production and deliver more air defense systems, including U.S.-made Patriots, to counter intensifying Russian airstrikes.
Despite growing international appeals and Kyiv's offer of a 30-day ceasefire as the basis for peace talks, Moscow continues to reject the proposal.
Trump, who spoke by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin on June 4, has refused to impose new sanctions on Russia, saying he is focused on pursuing a negotiated ceasefire.

The su35 shot down the other day was reportedly done by an f16 firing bvr missiles guided by a Saab awacs.
saw pictures of another urkranian PoW returned from Russia with massive scarring from what appeared to be torture. western powers need to continue firmly and unapologetically arming and supporting ukraine

I thought I was being sarcastic in my posts a week back, predicting russia would bomb a school or hospital, but apparently not.
Last night they bombed a maternity hospital in Odessa.
It would be great for the US to help somehow but it sounds like they are declaring war on themselves.
Rutte has promised a huge increase in military across Nato with a threat from Russia. Carney is increasing military spending as well.

Happy Russia Day. Ukraine has joined celebrations by reporting that on this date, day 1205 of Russias 3 day war, Russian losses have exceeded one million fertilizers and otherwise physically inconvenienced.
