Oh, I thought Yunru was referring to military aircraft that required a landing strip. Easo said all the main landing strips were bombed out and I thought a country couldn't send military aircraft into Ukraine without also bringing their country into the war.

Also it's normal to have outdated information when you have a rapidly evolving situation like this so it's not a big deal.

Yeah, fuck your business if you rely on Russia. Time to find cheap labor somewhere else.

Ah, yes, the Africans and Indians that NATO deeply cares about.

Now THAT is something worth mentioning, the article itself, from the title or even the intro didn't say that.

But yeah, further down the story, it starts to mention that. Yeah, the racial aspect of it will be a big problem. Prioritizing a Ukrainians over Non-Ukrainians is understandable in the situation. Prioritizing based on the color of their skin though is not.

Mastercard and Visa have suspended network services in Russia after Zelensky asked them to do so during his Zoom call with the US Congress.

Can someone give me the TL;DR of the significance of this and how it differs from the actions they took a few days ago?

That doesn't seem like enough of a concern that "none will trust the west now". I'll wait till actual countries say something and not just a single person I know nothing about.

Speaking of linking sources, Visa, Mastercard suspend all operations in Russia, 'effective immediately'

"Effective immediately, Visa will work with its clients and partners within Russia to cease all Visa transactions over the coming days," Visa said in a press release. "Once complete, all transactions initiated with Visa cards issued in Russia will no longer work outside the country and any Visa cards issued by financial institutions outside of Russia will no longer work within the Russian Federation."

Al Kelly, chairman and chief executive officer of Visa Inc., said in the statement that the company feels "compelled to act" following Russia’s "unprovoked invasion of Ukraine" and the "unacceptable events that we have witnessed."

"We regret the impact this will have on our valued colleagues, and on the clients, partners, merchants and cardholders we serve in Russia," Kelly said. "This war and the ongoing threat to peace and stability demand we respond in line with our values."

Mastercard said in a statement Saturday that it also made the decision to suspend services in Russia due to the "unprecedented nature of the current conflict."
That sounds like the same moral/ethical stance all the other companies are taking. I don't see a lot of "none will trust the west conspiracy" from those.

Yeah, you should have been more specific, didn't catch the racist aspect of it at the bottom till another pointed it out. Judging by the title and intro, it just looked like they were saying Ukrainians had priority over Non which is what I was going off of as you didn't specify much on your post and wasn't immediately obvious in the story you linked till about a third to half way down.

I would imagine the significance is "it is now even harder for Russia to get goods and services than it already was"

As for the difference, I think before it was just Russian banks, and now it's everyone. But this just happened, so I'm legit not sure.

Makes Russian issues cards be unable to clear payments outside Russia and foreign cards be unable to clear payments with Russian vendors.

    Pretty strong hit.

Bro, the workers, businessmen, politicians and the army are not all the same. It's not the worker's fault that putin is a nuthead. I'm ok with a military intervention but why ruin everyone's else life too besides the ones who are at fault?

So much broader impact before and more Russians will feel the pain of this.

Well, the Russian people have a choice: They can be cowed by Putin and be cowards and let his evil continue or they can stand up to a tyrant and topple him.

Thats on you for not reading the whole thing.
And blocking non-ukraines is still shitty, non-ukraines are not worth more than them. Even with the racist shit.

Because that's what "making a stand" looks like.

Or what, you thought if you'd militarily intervene you'd be able to clear transactions willy-nilly? That's why I am telling to various hotheads here that there are reasons why NATO is not getting involved directly - because then things like clearing transactions with Russian suppliers would be the least of your troubles.
