Very very few wars throughout modern history have yielded a net positive economically, with the exception of colonial ventures where the power disparity was such that one power could realistically defeat another with minimal or no loss of life or wealth. It might make a few people wealthy or wealthier, or achieve some type of abstract political goal, but almost nobody ever comes out of a war having made money off of it.
The US after the two world wars is a massive historical anomaly and it messed with how the US relates to militarism for generations.
War is remotely not as a rational act as you would think it is.
