Well, hard to say. I'd imagine it could be spun to be a positive, no problem. Something along the lines of Russia and China being the BFF's, it wasn't worth much to Russia anyway, etc...

Besides, Ukraine is making Putin look incredibly weak. We are already seeing all kinds of desperate measures. Such a trade could be worth it, if it makes the problem go away. But then, as I said, I doubt land is on the table, either way, even if there were any disputed land between Russia and China, and I doubt China would be willing to offer what Russia really needs right now, which is more soldiers.

The US is heavily dependent on China, we have a huge trade deficit. Both China and Russia know this and China is heavily eying Taiwan. They have already calculated the risk of involvement and there is relatively none for them.

    Cobalt bomb

A cobalt bomb is a type of "salted bomb": a nuclear weapon designed to produce enhanced amounts of radioactive fallout, intended to contaminate a large area with radioactive material, potentially for the purpose of radiological warfare, mutual assured destruction or as doomsday devices.

In 2015, a page from an apparent Russian nuclear torpedo design was leaked. The design was titled "Oceanic Multipurpose System Status-6", later given the official name Poseidon. The document stated the torpedo would create "wide areas of radioactive contamination, rendering them unusable for military, economic or other activity for a long time." Its payload would be "many tens of megatons in yield". Russian government newspaper Rossiiskaya Gazeta speculated that the warhead would be a cobalt bomb. It is not known whether the Status-6 is a real project, or whether it is Russian disinformation. In 2018 the Pentagon's annual Nuclear Posture Review stated Russia is developing a system called the "Status-6 Oceanic Multipurpose System". If Status-6 does exist, it is not publicly known whether the leaked 2015 design is accurate, nor whether the 2015 claim that the torpedo might be a cobalt bomb is genuine.

China also heavily relies on US. It is certainly not a one way relationship. That said, no way American businesses are gonna hit China like they did Russia. So China gonna have their cake and eat it too is my guess.

Xi should be taking notes about the flaws of personalist regimes (like putin and his). I suspect he won't and will think 'but i could be the one who could do it'. The classic mind of the aging despot.

I'd give it a better than even chance. The Ukrainians seem to be doing a really good job of taking out commanders, drone striking command posts and vehicles. Almost like someone is feeding them information about where to hit...

There seem to be a lot of twitter links to public funerals for Russian colonels and captains going on.

Doesn't help that the Russians are using unsecured communications devices because the geniuses have been blowing up the cell towers their supposedly 'secure' comms system needs to function.

How does the radiation get past the skin to destroy you from the inside?

By inhaling or ingesting the radioisotopes. See Alexander Litvinenko for example.

Also, neutron activation, which seems to be specifically what they're talking about. When exposed to neutron radiation, some of the stable phosphorus-31 in your bones will be turned into unstable phosphorus-32 via neutron capture.

Not all radiation is alpha radiation. Gamma radiation is drastically more dangerous.

People kept saying that China will help Russia. What has China done for Russia so far?

SMIC, Lenovo and Xiaomei have halted all shipments to Russia.

Chinese banks have also toed the line so far.

They are letting Russian banks use UnionPay after VISA, MC and AMEX abandoned Russia. However, VISA, MC and AMEX left Russia voluntarily. Not because of any sanction.

There are the 184 billion reserves in yuan. We'll find out if China will let Russia Central Bank access the fund after the Rome meeting tomorrow.

this year's ukraine conflict isn't even that old believe it or not with how fast time seems to have gone by. give it some time and they'll covertly deploy actual manpower and resources to putin.

Stop doubting Putin's genuine friendship with Xi Jinping, people

Yep, because covert Chinese troops and equipment would flawlessly blend in with Russian soldiers.

Russia warns Coca-Cola, McDonald's, Procter & Gamble, IBM and others that if their companies critcize the war, they'll start arresting their admins and seize assets. Yes, non-Russians too.

"Going after business CEOs? Surely Trump would take a stand here, at least."

    Nope.

You say, what's the purpose of this? They had a country. You could see it was a country where there was a lot of love and we're doing it because, you know, somebody wants to make his country larger or he wants to put it back the way it was when actually it didn't work very well
"...did he say anything else later?"

Yes, actually. But it's all stuff everyone else has already said. Putin has a big ego that won't let him walk away from a mistake; Russia would struggle to occupy Ukraine; things will get worse before they get better. In other words, Trump finally got on the same track everyone else was.

"Did he criticize Putin by name?"

    No.

    "Was this on FOX News?"

Yes. Also, funny story, we have a leaked memo from Russia about FOX News.

A leaked 12-page war memo, titled "For Media and Commentators," told Russian media that it is "essential" to use more Carlson segments in their coverage because of his positions on the war in Ukraine.

Carlson "sharply criticizes" the actions of the United States and NATO and their "negative role in unleashing the conflict in Ukraine," the memo said.

He is also critical of the "defiantly provocative behavior from the leadership of the Western countries and NATO towards the Russian Federation and towards President Putin, personally," the memo continued.

Carlson was the only Western journalist mentioned by name in the document.

Clips of Carlson are now commonplace on Russian TV, Newsweek reported, noting that he is portrayed as being pro-Russia and sympathetic to Russian President Vladimir Putin. In late February, his sympathetic coverage of Russia led to state TV re-broadcasting his show with Russian subtitles.

Insider's Mia Jankowicz reported that Carlson, before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, echoed many of Putin's talking points during a Fox News segment. In a now-infamous speech, he posed this question to viewers: "Why do Democrats want you to hate Putin?"

Destabilization and eventual annihilation/absorbing of Western powers. Putin and Xi are specifically on the same wavelength and despise America policing the world.

As we observe from this event: Even when you get someone like Joe Biden angry and you're not in league with the West, with the clasp of their hands, they can crumble your nation to dust with sanctions.

That is the power America holds that dictators fear.
