Like can we just not be shit people, please. And after we've stopped pretending to be stupid in order to be shit people, let's go ahead and get rid of all of the shit people instead of letting them float around shitting all over our soup. Sick of this shit.
America loves fascism. Always has. And so it sells for the news media.

Republicans buy guns because they fantasise about killing intruders. Truth is, they'd be the first ones out the country if there was a sniff of an invasion. But, they'll never be put to the test in America.

With the possibility so often raised in media outlets and Taiwan itself reinforcing their military defense and making preparations for "possibilities" in the wake of the Ukraine disaster, why do people STILL doubt China will invade Taiwan?

Xi is 68, only a year younger than Putin. Xi quite literally sees himself as a physical god but knows of his mortality. One of his goals people know of is to cement his legacy by taking Taiwan before he passes on, to elevate his legacy to a plane past Mao Zedong's and without it being tainted. Famous quote:

"Had Mao died in 1956, his achievements would have been immortal. Had he died in 1966, he would still have been a great man but flawed. But he died in 1976. Alas, what can one say?"

The word flawed is doing some pretty fucking heavy lifting.

China is run by The Party, it's goals and gameplan are far longer than any one leader's lifespan. They're not a personality cult in the way Russia is, but they do appreciate the focal point of leadership an individual person can provide. They'll be taking notes for sure, but those notes at this point will be 'improve our air force, and make some generational changes to the military's overall set up to be more mobile'. But they won't be invading Taiwan, not that that was ever a realistic prospect in the near term.

Long term, China are absolutely a threat to world stability, but they know they're not anywhere near where they need to be yet in order to act on it.

for the same reasons the US was warning about Russia invading Ukraine, they have eyes, and have access to the satellites that SEE what is going on on the surface of the earth.

guess what they have to say on the matter of China "gearing" up to do a land invasion: "there is no evidence of this happening"

Invasion? GOP politicians peace out when it gets too chilly outside.

I think long term China's plan is to wait for the US to self destruct and take the leadership, they got a taste of that with Trump. I can't say it's a bad bet the US has been shooting itself in the foot and tearing itself apart internally for decades now.

In fairness, NATO had Russia's entire plan of invasion since before they even started building up forces.

true, but we have literal photos of the build up on the Russian/Ukrainian border.

so, I guess the geo space agencies were suddenly got bought out by China, which is why NONE of them are talking about what China is doing with it's army.

A bold plan and a long wait given half the states don't even think the civil war is over.

    Reddit isn't a media outlet

Unsure that depends on how long Trumpism last because the next Trump can easily turn this country into a dictatorship. Also can you imagine how screwed Ukraine would be right now if Trump was in charge?

I believe the China/Taiwan angle is detached enough from the topic of the thread to qualify as derailing. Please stick to discussing the Russia/Ukraine conflict.

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.

I KNEW it. China is possibly supplying Russia. In response to the person last page who said how China would support Russia.
    Learn to read, kid.

China is not supporting Russia's war.

Why do you continue to pretend to know exactly what these dictators think in their innermost thoughts?

These sound like schizophrenic delusions to me. You might want to seek medical help.

It doesn't have to be a civil war it can be a takeover of the US government by the right wing using clearly unfair laws shaking any confidence people have in our system. We've already had a president leading an insurrection with no consequences for his actions.
