Russian Troops Open Fire Amid Ukrainian Protests in Occupied City Kherson

There's a video in the link but nothing graphic. It's currently unclear if those in the square were being fired at, or if Gunfire just happened to happen nearby to scare them off.

It's more of a Mexican standoff, really. Putin's not going to attack NATO, either. But if either side so much as blinks, that Russian/Finnish border would get very interesting, very quickly. I have every belief that Finland's more prepared for that than Russia is, is more motivated than Russia is, and way more competent than Russia is.

If I were as paranoid as Putin was, I'd have that border reinforced to prevent sabotage.

Even before it was revealed that Russia's Army is held together by Duct-Tape and Copium, the cost/benefit analysis of trying to invade Russia always made it a hilarious line of fear mongering. Anything that the west would -want- from Russia they can get anywhere else (as we're seeing with sanctions hitting and folks shifting gears to getting their goods elsewhere), and those countries more dependent on Russian recourses lack the means to even think about an invasion.

The worry about 'Big Bad NATO is going to try and invade wittle ol' Russia ' has always been baseless.

That's funny. In the eyes of the Russian government, Meta has now joined the rank of the Taliban and Jehovah's Witnesses.

Another odd thing, the government specifically stated that accessing both services using VPN is not considered a crime. However, advertising on them will be considered to be providing support to extremist organizations. Hilarious.

    And, WhatsApp is not banned.

Russia's 10-year OFZ ruble bond yield skyrocketed to 19.7% in early Monday trading

That's not a bond rate. That's credit card rate.

The Russian Central Bank said Friday that it would start buying up OFZ bonds.

That really does not make sense.

So the US Central Bank allowed Russia's March 117 million debt payment to go through. Next one due in April is 615 million then May 2 billion. Will they let those through again?

If it's an effort to bleed them dry? Probably.
Russia needs that money, the US will happily take it.

Well...I just realised there IS a NATO excercise ongoing in North Norway so, yeah it's a bit odd. (30000 troops, 200 planes, vehicles.)

I mean here's the crazy thing: Putin could just declare anything as a declaration of war at this point. How do you handle someone like that? The US is trying its best without direct confrontation, but these sanctions may make Putler snap eventually.

on the topic of putin being crazy: apparently, there's already rumors his cronies are trying to overthrow him but the goon potentially replacing him is even WORSE. Is there any hope?

I expect the "Exercises' in question are going to be a bit more vigorous than originally planned.

    Does "Z" stand for Zombie?

You won't believe how stupid the Russian Army command is, but they sent a new group of attack helicopters to the Chernobaivka airport near Kherson. So, Ukrainian Army bombarded this location for the 7th time during war and destroyed that new group.

The "shadow dictator of the biggest criminal conspiracy in the history of mankind" manifests itself as "the most inept logistics effort for a massive army in the history of mankind." This kinda dents the "biggest criminal conspiracy['s]" purchase. I think the entirety of Putin is "he has nukes" and "he can manage to get artillery in range to shell cities to rubble."

A conspiracy that can't manage to put the industrial production of a huge state into a 140 mile push and encirclement of a city in four weeks is a rather ineffective conspiracy.
"I wish it need not have happened in my time." "So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."
