I've just realised that Easo was trumpeting the fact that Shoigu was totally fine and hadn't been "dealt with" by Putin earlier on. His proof? A soundless picture of him in a corner box of a teleconference with Putin. That vanished after just a few seconds.

In case anyone wasn't sure about his differing requirements for "proof" depending on which side of the argument it is.

Obviously it's bad in Ukraine (for everyone - war is never happy) and for the Ukrainians fleeing; and I don't have anything new to add to that.

But outside of Ukraine it seems to have united the west, and even caused nationalist groups in Europe to turn against Russia (despite previous attempt by Russia to use them as infiltrators); and caused the head of NATO to stay on for longer.

For me it depends on who among them. The leaders, looters, and war-criminals are one thing; and if there was any justice we would have another set of Nuremberg trials for them. But some of the conscripted common soldiers are just unlucky to born in the wrong country.

But why would you want or need a centralized authority to make a decision when you could just make the same decision with the consent of the people? Without the explicit consent of the citizens a leader or political party has no legitimacy.
