There's a couple of things we see about the Russians after their withdrawals.

1. The Ukrainians calling them "orcs" has been oddly fitting. Tho how a supposedly competent army ended up looking and behaving the way the Russians have been speaks volumes about just how poorly trained, ill disciplined and poorly supplied and commanded they are.

2. It's clear they don't see themselves as "liberators" either anymore. They've given up on the pretense of being there to help. The Ukrainian resistance beat that delusion out of them by now. That's why they've been warcriming left and right.

And note, this is how they act and the resistance they are dealing with in the supposedly pro Russian side of the country.

I'm pretty sure by this junction the Russians would be hard pressed to find people inside Ukraine who would want to be Russian. Even among Russian speakers.

As for the anyone wanting to be Russian, I think the leadership of the DPR and LPR want to, but I wouldn't bet on the population. I'm also not 100% if Russia is all too keen on having them I seem to recall a Duma member saying something to that effect, which just goes to show those republics would be useful fools if my recollection is correct.

Western bois talking about how separate Ukraine from Russia is are quite funny.

Apparently the White House is working on working with allies to transfer Soviet made tanks to Ukraine, the first time it has ever done so.

If those are gonna be the same previously talked about Czech BMP-1's and not actual tanks, I will be sorely dissapointed. Sources for actually capable tanks are basically non-existant - Poland (~200+) and a bit of Czech Republic (30 tanks). I am counting only those with actual modernization, because otherwise even Ukrainian T-64's are still better due to upgrades.

It's good that they are doing more to try and help but you have to question how much use this will actually be. As pretty much every country who use ex-USSR tanks use Russian built T-72s, whereas Ukraine use the Ukrainian built T-64 and T-80/84 tanks. This means the tanks likely to be sent to Ukraine will be T-72s and probably older ones (in some cases they may actually be ones Ukraine sold off in the 90s), which means none of the Ukrainian tankers under the age of 40 will have been trained on them and they will be in an equal/worse state of modernization/survivability to the junk Russia failed to invade in.

The only states with decent tanks of the types Ukraine use, and enough of them to make sending some worthwhile, are China and Pakistan, neither of which are likely to want to **** off Russia.

Wrong. Ukraine does use T-72's, in limited amount (couple batallions, IIRC), with recent modernizations. Plan to arm more units with them was on the way but then war started. And it is a relatively small challenge to train/retrain crews, tanks are very similar (remember, T-72 was originally a cheaper mass mobilization version of T-64 - which is primary MBT for Ukraine).

Well, it's not like Ukraine is falling to Russia any time soon, and it's not like they've got a shipment of Soviet planes coming over. Getting them trained on Western planes seems like a good idea regardless of whether they will see immediate benefit.

Frankly, that will probably just be the new MO for Western military training operations. Train pilots to fly Western planes, give them Western planes to protect Western interests, and then sell them more Western planes in the future.

Still, I do not believe they will ever get any F-16 in air before war ends. If old MiG's could not arrive, why the hell should F-series? Same problems aka fear of getting airfields Kalibr'd remains.

A Ukrainian negotiator said on Saturday Russia had indicated that draft peace treaty documents were at an advanced enough stage to allow for direct consultations between the two nations’ leaders, Interfax Ukraine reported.

The agency quoted David Arakhamia as telling Ukrainian television that Russia accepted Ukraine’s overall position with the exception of its stance on Crimea.

Colour me intrigued with how closely this follows the highest level talks between EU and China.

You should also understand what such events might mean, no, will mean for the war and future POWs, from both sides.

As for dead bodies and other things - I trust no one and the propaganda pushed by both Russia and Ukraine is tiring. Well, they both learned at the same school from the same books, so...
