I am just impressed that Russia managed to dig its own graves in the most literal way possible. They are really damaging the art of metaphor, by being so dumb that it makes it unclear what is metaphor and what is just a description of what happened.

I find it very interesting how Russia and the "woke" crowd both share almost identical rhetorics and totally whacky "logic" when they try to see Nazis all over the place to justify their own assholeness. It's like they're using the same template.

And, tbh, I believe they actually are. I'm fairly certain that the origin of much of the craziest woke stuff is in Moscow.

To be honest, I've always seen Russia's attitude towards its neighbours as much like that of a narcissistic wife-beater or a super-jealous stalker.

Russia spent half a century raping and brutalizing half of Europe. Now those countries don't want anything to do with Russia. Gee, I wonder why?

And Russia is incapable of seeing that it's entirely Russia's own fault. Instead it blames the West, the NATO, the US... anyone else except itself.

Holy shit this reach would impress even Stretch Armstrong. Absolutely hilarious. The Russian government is absolutely behaving like those who support them in the US: like the Republican party.

Weird you're trying to use the war in Ukraine and Russia's incompetence to try to "own the libs", but here we are. I guess there's no opportunities that reactionaries won't take to "own the libs".

I don't doubt that a handful of Qanon nutters and die-hard trumpers believe Russia's bullshit, but frankly they'd have believed it regardless of repetition so long as their favorite talking head told them Russia was in the right and had left it at that.

But the majority of Americans from both parties back Ukraine on this. Like I've said before, decades upon decades of pop culture painting Russian soldiers, the Russian government and its agents as duplicitous, scheming, and untrustworthy weren't going to be undone by a few years of internet trolls and a dumb oaf like Trump slobbing Putin off. Especially when their invasion and their warcrimes being blasted all across twitter, youtube, and the news at large just reinforce that preconceived notion.

It’s not just working on republicans. Famed genocide denier Noam Chomsky is also going to bat for the Russians.

Apparently he didn’t pick up on the months and months of attempted de-escalation talks, including with Macron himself. And I’m sure it is just a coincidence that he missed that recent Russian propaganda talking about the need to de-nazifi and de-ukrainifi Ukraine.

CNN: Biden signs sanctions bills targeting Russian oil and trade with Russia and Belarus
One bill suspends normal trade relations with Russia and Belarus, punishing the countries by paving the way for higher tariffs on imports from them. The other prohibits energy imports from Russia, including oil, coal and natural gas.

    ...

The House passed the trade relations provision 420-3 and the other in a 413-9 vote. Only three members -- Republican Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Matt Gaetz of Florida -- opposed both bills.
Hopefully, the clowns who voted against are shown the door this year.

I hope so. MTG especially since everyday she's in Congress it is a big sign saying "Send enough death threats to a Democrat and Qanon candidate will win by default."

I've said it before, and I'll say it again:

This is perhaps the single most potent political ammunition basically handed to the democrats in a long, long time.

America, by and large, supports Ukraine. The only dissent comes from the Republicans, specifically the far-right nutters like those listed above and Trump.

Were the democrats enterprising enough they could use this as a valuable wedge to put Republican politicians into extremely uncomfortable positions about either supporting Ukraine or supporting the likes of Trump... all while simultaneously demonstrating the democrats own magnanimous support of Ukraine in its time of need, and exerting the US' primacy on the world stage through projection of soft power.

All they gotta do... is do it. This isn't some large-sweeping reform that will die in congress because it can be blocked by obstinate "democrat" holdout congressmen, or something that can really be spun as some negative with boogeymen words attached to it or pearl clutching about "costs," as are the usual go-to GOP tactics for turning democrat efforts sour in the mouths of voters.

"Hello America, I'm Joe Biden, and I'm fucking those murderous Ruskies with 'biblical' level sanctions while sending this aide to Ukrainians in need" and "Hello America, I'm democratic nominee/incumbent so-and-so, and I support/voted for Biden's 'biblical' level sanctions and sending aide to Ukrainians in need" should be the rallying cry of every American democratic politician up for any kind of election in 2022 and 2024.

Coupled along with a healthy dose of smear campaign ads showing "Hey America, this is Trump praising Putin right after the invasion. And X, Y, and Z conservative politicians voting against sanctions, or saying they don't care about Ukraine, or coming out in support of Trump. Hey, here's a photo of disparate Ukrainian children and blown up infrastructure to cap the ad off, good night!"

Daily KOS: Whistleblower Rebekah Jones CRUSHING Matt Gaetz in the polls
Overall, the results plainly show that Gaetz’s popularity in his home district is at a nadir, while Jones’ profile is ascendant.

In an anticipated 4-way race with two independents, the poll of 432 likely voters says Jones leads Gaetz by a 53.5%-45.6% margin. In a two-way race, the surveyed likely voters favor the challenger over the incumbent by a measure of 52.8%-47.2% for a margin of 5.6%.

The poll sampled twice as many Republicans as Democrats.
    Furthermore...

CNN: Judge appears likely to allow January 6-related candidacy challenge against Marjorie Taylor Greene
A federal judge signaled Friday that she'll likely allow a group of Georgia voters to move forward with their constitutional challenge against GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, which claims she can't run for reelection because she aided the January 6 insurrectionists.

The 14th Amendment of the US Constitution prohibits officeholders from returning to elected positions if they supported an insurrection. The challengers claim that Greene can't run for reelection because she "aided" the January 6 insurrection, allegedly planned with protest organizers and "encouraged" the violence that disrupted the Electoral College certification.
This is all going somewhat off-topic, though, so I'll just drop it after this.

It's actually even insaner than that - the claim was also that they burnt the cookbooks so that people couldn't make their own variants of it.

Those talks were bullshit. The only two countries that actually had a voice in the matter were the US and Russia with Russia looking for the slightest, pettiest reason to invade and the US knowing its neck isn't on the line.

That's the way all those who support war criminals think and operate. It is about defending a fundamentally warped mental understanding. Perhaps even more importantly, there's a lot of mythomania, narcissism and delusion with one's nation's percieved historic victimhood involved in this; the justification of war crimes is simply compounding this. At a certain level, the infatuation with one's own nation and ethnic heritage, combined with the delusions of grandeur and mythomania, leads to the complete inability of a people to accept their and/or their nation's mistakes.

Sometimes, the light of the moon is a key to other spaces. I've found a place where, for a night or two, the streets curve in unfamiliar ways. If I walk here, I might find insight, or I might be touched by madness.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Kyiv on Friday presented Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy with paperwork for his country to join the European Union.

Handing over a document at a joint press conference, she said: "This is where your path towards the European Union begins."

"We stand ready to support you in filling out this questionnaire," von der Leyen said, adding: "It will not be, as usual, a matter of years, but rather a matter of weeks" to complete this step.
There we go. Once the war is over, Ukraine will have a referendum and things are on track.

    I love wikipedia trolling.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russia

Someone added a "Citation Needed" tag to "Russia is a great power".

Edit: Aww, now they deleted it completely. It was more funny when it had the Citation needed tag.

russia going full genocide while their troops rape and murder toddlers and film it

'Medvedev: "A 'completely fake' nation and 'a copy of the Third Reich' that doesn’t deserve to exist."

Solovyov: “Zelensky is Ukraine’s last president because there won’t be any Ukraine after that.”

again needs to be a full revenge operations against the troops and leaders.

I wouldn't be surprised if after the war is over Zelensky will be talking to US, UK, Israel to get Ukrainian secret service a lot of training from CIA, MI6 and Mossad.
