I don't know. I guess it's some sort of attempt at making Russia seem stronger/better than US, because Russia "found" the New World, and USA ought to be grateful for it?

Is this a real thing? Because this is just too comical.

*very angry viking noises* They could have gone that way.. ''look, the fellas who founded Vinland settlements, where from Russia. Exiled after the evil westerners/ukranians booted them out of Kiev. Hence we, as Russia discovered the Americas first!''

I think the best bit is that European reformers only created western languages in the 14th-15th century.

Guess we all spoke...Russian before that?

Well, it makes sense since russians also apparently invented language.

Let's not pretend this is preferable.

Actually, scientific consensus is the very first humans who settled the Americas were migrants coming from Russia*, and they lived there for thousands of years before being genocided by West Europeans. And therefore all of America really belongs to Russia by right.

    *Well it's Russia now, okay?

Yeah, that part is actually true, Humans likely did migrate to the Americas from Siberia. However, Russia also claimed Christopher Columbus, just to be sure.

And on a long enough timeline back those people all came from Africa, so I guess Africans really settled the Americas, didn't they?

And then in 1492, more African descendants (just removed by ~10,000 more years) did it again!

That's pretty extreme even for Russians, usually their irredentism in that geographical direction only extends to e.g it having been a mistake to sell Alaska to the US in the 1800s.

If I might proffer a piece of advice to Russians still bitter about offloading what they thought was useless tundra more than 150 years:

    Sucks to suck

Negotiations were already carried out in the 1990's when Ukraine relinquished their nuclear weapons to Russia in exchange for a guarantee their sovereign borders would be respected and protected. All parties involved in those talks violated the spirit of the agreement multiple times. The pot was inevitably going to boil over one way or the other as the US and Russia tried to find illicit ways to influence Ukraine more than the other with Ukraine doing its best to appease both in various ways to avoid conflict on its soil

please do tell how the UK and US violated Ukraine's sovereignty and how the Ukraine had to appease them to stop them from invading.

Isn't the current English language (the core of it), an old German variant?

Unfortunately a lot of people have a serious case of "whataboutism". You will give them these facts and they will start saying "what about when this country did this and those people did that" as though two countries doing bad things somehow makes it ok?

Lots of people with something broken in their brain these days.
