You can't expect anybody on the internet to accept anything you say as fact without reputable proof, just because you come from or near by isn't proof in of itself.
He made the claims about what has gone on in Donbas in the past, which he stated is in the OSCE reports (I did go look at the time, but there is far to much to check without points of reference) so are we expected to take it at face value or ask for links?

And yes it is wild, of course he did not imagine this would turn out that way. The real deal is obviously much more complex as well.

Brilliant show all in all, I'm just not sure it will translate well to Western audience. For me it was hilarious because I understand it, having lived there half my life.

Russian military is known to be hilariously corrupt and this shit came back to bite them in the ass.

Ukrainian one also has a lot of troubles, even now there are reports of some aid being sold off by various shady officials. I can only imagine that at least some part of weapons delivered goes to people who should not have their hands on it.

What helped Ukraine is that for them the shit because very real 8 years ago, where as for Russia shit became real only now.
Yeah, it's why I doubt a peace only lasting a few years will help Ukraine. Next time around Putin or whoever replaces him will likely have fixed at least some of those issues since as you say shit just got real for them, and an efficient Russian war machine is one the Ukrainians cannot hope to stand against, unless the damage from the present invasion really cripples the Russian war machine more than expected.

This is a big deal, the Moskva is a Slava class, the largest class of serious warships they have (The Kirov and Kuznetsovs seem like an increasingly cruel joke each year that passes). This is a very large, and allegedly modern warship that just gone dunked out of existence by missiles it should have been immune to (Or even more humiliatingly, exploded out of its own sheer incompetence).

Anti-Missile defense is literally what the ship is supposed to be good at. Its role in a modern conflict is to escort the warships that fire the long range cruise missiles to strike land targets. It isn't a huge surprise really, the analyst consensus is that the Navy was worse then the Army, and since the Army keeps finding new ways to lower the bar, it isn't surprising their navy is also failing absolutely every test they face.

Crew evacuated, ship heavily damaged. No Moskva for Roosha.
Man that is going to be humiliating for Putler in a war that has been full of humiliation for him. The Moskva might have been an aging nearly forty year old Soviet relic but it was the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet. Losing it to the Ukrainians is going to be a blow to morale and means Russia is going to be keeping its ships further away from the coast, effectively making them useless in the war.

It isn't like Russia has any more modern large Warships. The Kirovs are even older, and only one of them floats.

I do find the Russian messaging to be hilarious. They are debating if it is better to admit their flagship has no effective missile defenses, or if it is better to claim they blew it up out of sheer criminal incompetence by themselves. So far the Kremlin line is "Russian Warship fucked itself"

don't get too excited. this is huge news in the sense of it being a big wake up call to Putin. A wake up call that might make him the angriest yet.

The best part of the whole thing is that it's the same ship infamous told to "go fuck yourself" at Snake Island at the start of the war, and now the missiles that hit it were reportedly fired from Snake Island.

Of course now Russia is claiming that it was an accidental fire that cooked off munitions and forced an abandon ship.

So Russia's choices are 1) Snake Island finally winning the confrontation, or 2) pretending that the ship figuratively went and "fucked itself".

The only way this would be better is if the soldiers who originally issued the declaration and were captured then later released, were back at the island to fire the missiles themselves.

If it did it's one thing in Russia's military that's obedient.

The thing I don't understand about the commentary on this war is that I am told

    1. Putin is crazy and stupid and just throwing away the lives of young Russian soldiers, key generals, and major warships.
    2. Putin is NOT crazy and would never use WMDs.

My bullshit meter goes off when I hear people talking out of both sides of their mouth like that. Either he is crazy or he is not.

Ye, you keep showing off your origin like it gives you some unique and superior insight into the war situation, just like Easo. But it did not stop him from being obnoxious and patronizing to whoever dared to question his constant downplaying of anything Ukraine-positive. And now he plays a victim of mean posters when his yet another "fog of war" claim failed. Ok.

Russian source says the Ukrainians distracted it with a TB2 drone and hit it with Neptunes when they were fixed on it. The ship rolled after the strike and has now sunk.

Oh dear. So the answer is .... we are redefining the word crazy? LOL. That is such an internet thing to do.

Fun fact, the Moskva is the largest warship sunk by enemy action since WWII, beating out the General Belgrano. Alternately, she is the largest warship sunk by pure incompetence since the Mutsu in 1943. Russia gets to choose which record they would like to apply for.

Getting it wrong is not the same as redefining it.

Strawmanning, however, is definitely "such an internet thing to do."
