It seems Trent Telenko's prophecy of doom for the logistical force of the Russian army has come to pass. In any case, it's probably the last major Russian offensive for a while (and the last one until they mobilize their reservists).

Imo, for Ukraine it will then come down whether they want to push and start taking back territory, or get a deal here. Right now the Ukrainians can probably take back Kherson and push Ru back across the river, anything more they need the incoming heavy weapons and incoming troops they mobilized two months ago.
I question whether Russia declaring an actual war and mobilizing their reserves would actually do anything if the logistics of the Russian army are completely exhausted.
More bodies rushing forward without support isn't going to break Ukraine.
It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death

Don't forget NATO application filing day military parade. Would rub it in twice as hard.

A Russian reconnaissance plane briefly violated Sweden’s airspace today (Friday), Swedish defense officials said on Saturday, as the Scandinavian country ponders a bid for NATO membership after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“A Russian AN-30 propeller plane violated Swedish airspace on Friday evening,” the Swedish defense ministry said in a statement, adding that its teams had followed the incident and photographed it.

The ministry said the plane was flying east of Bornholm, a Danish island in the Baltic, before it headed toward Swedish territory.

I see no point in responding to you, but for anyone else reading, this is not remarkable. Russia does this now and then in a desperate bid to remind the rest of the world that they exist. Swedes are used to it.

They do it to everyone. Repeatedly. It hardly ever gets reported widely.

Good articles to illustrate the point, thanks for linking. This is just business as usual, the world is well aware that Russia doesn't respect the sovereignty of other nations.

    that's messed up.

Yes, it is just business as usual. Some random plane crosses the invisible line for a few seconds and then they leave as to not anger the fighters. It's nothing to write home about and has been going on for decades. Like... It's non-news.

Only real downside is that they steal our cool moves, like the cobra...

it's at the top of reddit right now, actually

but that aside, didn't Turkey once shoot down Russia's little plane for this type of violation in 2020 and also warn Russia of crossing their seas recently? Considering how despotic and evil Erdogan is, at the least I'm surprised he's like this with Putin when Putin has many right-wing ultranationalist allies domestically.

It is being reported that Russian Major General Russian Simonov killed near Izyum.

Haha, another one bites the dust. Hopefully it is true.
Gee they do sure get some awesome location intel. I wonder if we'll ever know where it comes from

Somehow they had a drone nearby to record the artillery hits.

Flying near to or into another country's airspace is not "just threaten[ing] and kill[ing] others". And it has nothing to do with having nukes.

Other countries do the same thing, just admittedly not as often as Russia does it.

Because it's not threatening. It's the Russian equivalent of ding dong ditch. You don't shoot down your 10 year old boy neighbor for that

this honestly sounds ridiculous on so many levels. The act of violating air space that way is as a declaration of war, and repeatedly threatening to nuke or invade a country after working on a genocide in progress is a declaration of war. By Russia's twisted logic, applying for NATO is a declaration of war, and Sweden has done just that while ignoring them.

There's no reason this aircraft should have survived here.

  19. #18219
No, Sweden has not applied for NATO membership and won't do so for at least a few weeks (if at all).

Shooting down a Russian plane for basically saying "You haven't forgotten about us, right?" would not only give Russia a reason to do bad shit, putting more than ten million lives at risk, but would also disqualify us from NATO should we decide to apply as we'd be part of a conflict should something spark up.

It's not the first time it happens and it won't be the last. We send up our QRF and that's that. They don't want to mess with us. They just want attention and to test our response.

Overreacting would just be stupid and irresponsible, so I'm not surprised it's an idea you support.
