Yes, Russia was such a great liberator almost all of their European 'allies' ran to NATO for protection after the Soviet Union collapsed under the weight of its corrupt institutions.

You have to read between the lines. They liberated people of their liberty.

I am not referring to Eastern Europe, but the rest of the World, which was mostly colonized and/or subjected to meddling and proxy wars by the likes of France, U.K. and U.S., to an extent to this very day.

It might come as shocking to some, but the U.S. and/or Europe are not universally perceived as the center of the World. In most parts of it, Ukraine does not warrant more interest than Myanmar, Syria, Yemen, Ethiopia or Congo to name a few, beside the obvious impact on their livelihoods.

A lot of these soldiers come from the poor cannon fodder parts of russia. The powers that be will just bury the information. And people in places like Moscow probably wouldn't care much anyway. The only way a high number of casualties would matter is if they help in propaganda.

Lula is being a fucking idiotic tankie here. This "talk more" shit is fucking dumb. Talk more to whom and what? What are you going to talk about with the fascist lunatic who literally denies your right to exist.

This is akin to the fucktards in the US who do the whole "good people on both sides" thing.

I already spoke about this before. The Western countries should frankly make it clear to fence sitters like Lula and Modi etc that this little bullshit they are pulling now will be remembered next time we sit down to discuss aid and trade.

Modi agreed with Macron to try and take a more active role in mediating, we'll see if that works out.

That's fine and dandy until the Russians go full Russian and burn the grain fields half those countries depend on for their own food security, ruin the energy markets they depend on for their energy security and start a nuclear war, cuz Russia Stronk.

It's great not to give a fuck about the minutiae of little things like ethnic cleansing and Russian imperialism, but the effects of this conflict do have real, tangible global consequences because UNFORTUNATELY Europe still is pretty much the center of the world, and will remain so for the foreseeable future.

So when Europe gets mildly uncomfortable and somewhat concerned millions will fucking starve in Ethiopia, Yemen, Congo etc unless Europe/West can be motivated into giving enough of a fuck to do something about it.

It may sound very cold hearted, but how about Russia deals with it's own mess. If millions are starving, perhaps they can ask Russia why that is. Russias terrorist campaign is causing massive cost for western world as it is. I don't agree with bailing out the entire rest of the world too. Make Russia do that.

My point was rather that this whole "We don't care it's not our business" shtick doesn't work and it's disconnected from reality.

Furthermore as Russia is neither willing, interested or capable of helping, although at minimum they should stop making the problems worse, it also doesn't work for countries that are reliant on the West to oppose or fence sit on this.

That's why I was saying, it's OK if you don't give a fuck about the war crimes, genocide, etc, the moral and ethical component, but it is also not in your economic and national and local social self interest to refuse to give a fuck.

Zelensky outlines possible peace deal concessions

Zelensky outlines possible peace deal concessions
The Ukrainian president says that he would accept a peace deal in which Russian troops returned to the positions they held the day before the fully-fledged invasion began in February.

When asked by the BBC's Frank Gardner what the "minimum" concession from Russia would be in return for peace, Zelensky responded: "A return of Russian forces to where they were on 23 Feb."

"But for this to happen there needs to be diplomatic dialogue," he added. "From our side, not all the diplomatic bridges have been burnt."

Zelensky did not specifically mention Crimea, which was annexed by Russia in 2014 - but his response signals a willingness to acknowledge Russian control of the peninsula as part of a peace settlement.

It's also not clear what this would mean for the areas of Donetsk and Luhansk in Ukraine's east which have been partly under the control of pro-Russian separatist since 2014 too.
It's unlikely russia will go for this but this might represent a way to get back to diplomacy.

It’s also probably pretty necessary for Ukraine to quickly secure some sort of defense agreement with the EU.

Russia clearly can’t be trusted to keep its word unless the threat of force exists to compel them to.
