Well, if people in Blizzard themselves are doing it, that must mean it's okay to advertise, right?

I wonder why there's a thread to report ads like that
They don't hand select ads, they go through an agency who will try and target ads towards the site. I wonder what ads will probably do well when a machine tries to sort it.. Maybe ads about WoW?
Blizzard OK'd the buying of Gold the second they introduced the WOW Token, but still ban you if you do buy gold. I wouldn't doubt they will soon sell Boosts in game as well.
Report it here: https://www.mmo-champion.com/threads...orting-bad-ads
There are 4 ways ads are typically shown.
1. Personalized Advertising. This uses data stored on your system itself through a unique, untraceable ID that says "Hey, you have every Call of Duty game installed on your computer and you tend to lookup CoD stuff regularly, so we're going to show you CoD-related ads." If you disable this on your OS, or at a browser-level, or at an advertising-level, then you fallback to #2.
2. Contextual Advertising. This doesn't care what your preferences are because it doesn't use them. If you're on a WoW-related site, you'll be shown something related to WoW, or gaming in general. If the company chooses to not use contextual advertising for whatever reason, than you fallback to #3 (or rather, they do).
3. Generic Advertising. This is completely random, unrelated advertising. You look up WoW stuff and get shown lotion. You look up hair product and it shows you alcohol. You could get shown something related, but it's just random.
4. Self Advertising. This is the ultimate fallback as it doesn't necessarily payout for the company. These typically will trigger by either A) The company has an algorithm that says something like "Show an ad for our product 10% of the time" or sometimes an ad from a third-party can fail to load, so this is just the fallback to display when that happens. For example, you might see MMO-Champion advertise Mobafire.com if an ad fell into this category (though idk if I've seen them do this before on this particular site).
In order of how I listed them is also what pays the best to the least. The only variable one for how well the "payout" is worth is self advertising, as a company has to make their own call for how well it would pay to advertise itself. A user is most likely to click an ad that is targeted to them. They're least likely to click something completely unrelated to the stuff they look up.
Because MMO-champion doesn't pick the advertisements. So, if you find a bad advertisement, that is why you post it in this thread; https://www.mmo-champion.com/threads...orting-bad-ads
FOMO: "Fear Of Missing Out", also commonly known as people with a mental issue of managing time and activities, many expecting others to fit into their schedule so they don't miss out on things to come. If FOMO becomes a problem for you, do seek help, it can be a very unhealthy lifestyle..
As others have mentioned, please report it here so chaud will see it to have it removed: https://www.mmo-champion.com/threads...orting-bad-ads
We don't want those ads either, but ads are bought in bulk through a service and not individually hand selected so shit can slip through.
